Hi all,
I have an idea for a script to create rounded bevels on edges in max. It´s a tool missing in most (all?) 3d apps.
My idea is to combine "Solid Chamfer" from "Meshtools" and max´s native "Chamfer".
The following image should explain what I mean:

Maybe someone of the advanced scripters here(Bobo, Lazlo?)
could write such a script the does this in one go with more and easier control (little interface or manipulators).
Along with this one, another script which selects hard edges would be nice.
What do you think?

Greetings,

Markus

I don't know if this is what you mean but, i had an idea. (but no knowledge of scripting). One of the key factors to making realistic things is micro beveling. What i mean is every thing in the real world has some form of round edge on it. but in 3d if you make a box the edge is always 90' and this is infantly sharp. When ever i make a model i would love to have a script that you can run that will add a micro belvel to all the edges. I know this can be done with mesh smooth. but it is so much work to make a simple object look right!

This is no help at all sorry... just thought i would add my 2 cents... or rather my 2 pence!

uhm i do beveled edges like that all the time?

selec the edge u want to "smooth" - and chamfer it 3 times, and make sure the distance bestween the edges are the same.

when i do that i look exactly like a nice round mesh at the edge
