I've got a bit of an issue with my USB mouse not working when I have the dongle attached during startup. I have to unplug/replug the mouse for it to work. Before I contact Alladin about this I wondered whether anyone else has had similar problems & if they've found a solution. Of course it might be the mouse, drivers or something else....just wanted to check first.

BTW, I'm glad that I decided to get Messiah:Studio.....after only a few hours I love it:thumbsup:

Never heard that one - do you have other free (independent) usb ports? Maybe give them a try.
A new driver for the dongle can be found on the HASP website.

I remember when usb came up, the earlier motherboards often gave me unstable behavior. Did you ever have problems with usb before?

Do you have your bios configured to use usb correctly?

Can't really help much, but maybe try the latest HASP driver...

Good Luck!

I have the latest HASP driver, I had the SP2 issue of the drivers not installing so I got the new one (which works). It seems like it might just be the mouse drivers or something as it doesn't work with my tablet plugged in either.....well, it does but only if I plug in the dongle or tablet after my machine boots...or unplug/replug the mouse. Strange that the Lightwave dongle doesn't interfere though...hmm.

It's quite a new AMD64 home build with an nForce4 board so I'd hope that it doesn't have any of those "old" issues:)

thanks for replying, I'll just have to have a tweak

Very weird - this really sounds like something from the stone ages of USB <LOL>
If you haven't already: try updating your motherboard bios.

What I said above may still be worth a try: New motherboards have often 4 or more independent USB - busses. Now it could either be an option to use different busses for the dongle and the other stuff, so it doesn't (shouldn't) interfere. Or try using explicitly as little of the independent busses and put all USB devices that don't have much to transfer on the same bus.
Using 4 or more USB busses can eat up quite some IRQs depending on the motherboard logic.

Switching the bios setting "Plug and Play OS" from Yes to No (or the other way) may also be an option.

The last thing that comes to mind: do you have a PCI card on a slot with a shared IRQ with the USB busses?

I'm sure you tried the latest motherboard and chipset drivers and also mouse (if needed at all) and tablet drivers...

I'm just brainstorming here - I have actually no idea ;)

Best of luck!
