BevelMan v0.2 implements a new Setup utility which gives instant and interactive control over various aspects of the gizmo placement, size, color, menu items etc.

*Turn Gizmo on/off - when off, it will never appear, even when in Manipulate SO mode in EPoly object. When on, will behave as before.

*Gizmo Offset - lets you put the gizmo above the face to avoid probelms when using move/rotate/scale gizmos at the same time.

*Extrude Gizmo (Ball) size - 4 modes!
-Relative to Face Diagonal (this was the old default).
-Relative to the Outline Gizmo size - this is the new and (pretty cool) default.
-Relative to total Object Size - this is similar to the way Magmapulators were scaled. Good when working with differently sized objects.
-Absolute constant size in world units.

*Menu Items position - by a strange coincidence, the Sugar Babes happened to sing Round-Round-Baby-Round-Round on MTV at the moment I wrote this feature! :) Lets you slide the menu around the gizmo and change the spacing between items.

*Gizmo colors

*All settings are persistent and saved to disk whenever changed.
*When max starts, it will load the settings from disk. Any max scene will be saved with the BevelMan preferences.
*When a max scene opens, it could bring its own persistent settings from an older session. To overwrite with the current defaults, just open the Setup utlity.

*When a single polygon is selected, the Normal options will not be displayed as they are relevant only when two or more polygons are selected.

To install, you should place the script into your \Plugins directory! Remove BevelMan v0.1 from wherever it is first!!!

To use the Setup utility, customize a toolbar by dragging "BevelManSetup" from "Bobo_s Tools" category.

I just went through the basic tasks I was concerned about and i think it's a masterpiece. This time I only have one comment - could you make the size of the New, Apply and Cancel buttons (not text) customizable through the toolbar?

A very thorough job, really addressed the users' concerns. I'm sure people will find bugs here and there, but overall it's a very nice tool. Thank you very much, Bobo.

The Gizmo Offset, and Relative to the Outline Gizmo size really take care of any problems I had with the UI. One minor workflow question though is the/could the "new" button be hotkeyable?

Great stuff :)

Coming along nicely bobo

One thing from me, is that I have white polys on a dark background and the text (apply, new, cancel etc...) are sort of hard to see when there over the polys. Just a minor thing tho.

edit: I swear it's easier to read on that pic than it is in my viewport :)

Works really well in combination with transform gizmos. Customizable size for buttons and a hotkey like kary has mentioned and it's the most versatile gizmo in 3D modelling!

[edit] To those who are trying it for the first time:

You can specify the offset so the gizmo and the text are away from your geometry, make sure you create a custom toolbar as described on the website. To rotate hit New and use your regular rotate tool. Or scale or move. Next time you want to extrude and bevel grab the (customizable) gizmo ball again and bevel and extrude. Then hit New again (that's why we want a hotkey for it) and do the regular adjustments with your regular transform tools in any coordinate system. And so on.

This tool works! Report bugs to Bobo!

Man, I got a bit confused editing my post, but yeah, this tool is totally awesome. You start using it and you just pick it up like it was always meant to be this way.

[edit] I rate Bobo's thread 5.

I'd rather not - I am using system-internal gizmo elements (diamond, circle, cross etc.) which have fixed screen size and correct sprite orientation in screen coordinates. Making my own would make them world-unit-sized and 3D like the gizmo sphere and cause more problems.

Just use the hotkeys in BM v0.3 instead! :)

Version 0.3 generates 6 more MacroScripts (all 7 incl. Setup Utility can be found now under "BevelMan" category). You can assign them to hotkeys or place on Toolbar, Menu or Quad (but why would you... ;)

There is a new checkbox in the Setup dialog to disable the onscreen menus completely. If you use hotkeys, they are just in the way...

Also, a link at the bottom of the Setup Utility brings you to the BevelMan homepage...

I was trying to find out what exactly Bevelman is without having to download and install it, and I found that the avi on your site seems to be down :(

Strange, just tried it - comes down and plays fine here. (DivX 4.11 or higher required!)
