Crashoran 04-07-2005, 12:43 AM I am starting my second car from this tutorial using poly lines.

I need to know how to weld two verticies into one. Here is what I have.

I can select them both and choose "fuse" and then "connect" and it puts them in the same spot, but when I deselect and select again they are still two seperate verticies but in the same spot.

Basically, how do I weld two into one!? I have used the "weld" button but it does not work.

Well its just what you have to live with i think. i usially just fuse them and call them welded. then when you put the mesh modifier on the it works fine.. the only way to get them to weld that i konw of it to have two ends of a line and weld them together... but i dont thinkyou can weld them if there not the end of a line...

I actually just did that tutorial a few weeks ago, very good for starters, I also came across that same problem with vertex welding, i remember reading somewhere that you right click on the vertex that you want, then in the quad menu, change it from a vertex to a corner...but that's fuzzy, i haven't used spline cages in ages, just the simple basic rectangle and extrude yourself blind. but that is a tutorial for another day, so try what i just suggested, and i apologize if it doesn't work, but that's to the best of my recollection. and anyone with more knowledge on this, please help, and do feel free to insult my intelligence if i am wrong lol
Good luck on the tutorial...and watch out where you place verticies from now on for this tutorial, or any model at thathttp://cgtalk.com/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif

no dont change it to a corner if you do then is will end up boxy and unsmoothed... o as a side note be carful with the fuse button it can screw up the model if you fuse the wrong one and if too far away from one another... ive done it many a time...lol

right click in the viewport (when in the vertex mode), select "Target Weld" then click one of the vertices you want to weld, then click the other one you want to weld that one to....it'll do the trick.

There is no "target weld" in my options.
I fused all the verticies together and whenever I try to apply the surface modifier the entire thing just disappears. I'm going to just give up I guess. I found another box modeling tutorial for a 300ZX, So I'll just work on that one.
