Hey, I've been digging into Maya's help files and tutorials about dynamics and I'm not finding what I need. I am trying to dynamically move a field of roses; along the lines of each rose moving independently of each other. Can anyone point me in the right direction on where I can find some literature about wind dynamics? I really appreciate it guys.

Try using spline IK to each stems of your roses then make the spline softbodies. add wind dynamics. I hope this will do the tricks.

If you have A LOT of roses, follow mexxmillions suggestion and go with the paintFX.

If you're talking about close ups, the best way is probably to apply a wire tool to the rose stalk and make the wire curve dynamic (hair). With this setup an some good settings for the dynamic curve, you can apply any force to the rose.

If youre talking about a LOT of roses, AND a closeups, do the most of 'em with paintFX but convert some to polygons and place them in the front. Then do the dynamic curve setup to these flowers

For more info check the help for the "wire deformer" and "dynamic curves"

Nice. I don't really need any close-ups so I prolly will try paintfx. Thanks for the help!
