yes thank you Sheep, but im looking for one that will let me export stuff from maya to Max
to my knowledge the one from aliaswavefront.com is a 3ds Max to Maya importer im look to export to 3ds Max

i've always just exported unsing .obj format. you can get the .obj to max plugin here (http://max3d.3dluvr.com/plugins.php?s=1&type=Import/Export&developer=all&version=all&min=10&keyword=&sort=Name&showme=10) .

hhhmmm, im having an hard time...
i got the obj to max downloaded but how can i save my scene using *.OBJ file extension ... i've looked everywhere but Maya 4 seems to not let you save as a *.OBJ format
am i wrong or something ... ??

Open up Maya's plugin manager and load the objexport plugin.

At www.kaydara.com you'll find a plug called FiLMBOX-exporter which exports the Maya file, with UV's, textures, simple rigs, animations etc to a format called .FBX. This can then be imported in MAX using the same plugin. After messing with it in MAX you could even export it back to Maya.
And you know what? It's free...

MCronin, Life cant be better, at last i can export *.OBJ files directly from Maya thanks one million times ...
and also thanks for the OBJ2MAX link, this is a killer
it really opens *OBJ files under Max
