Is it possible, when Max starts, to load a specific matlib?

I alreay checked the 3dsmax.ini, and searched in the forum but couldn´t find anything.

thanks!

Since Max 6, Max ships with so-called "Factory Defaults". The original idea was that the software would be packaged for different markets, for example it was supposed to replace VIZ in the architectural area, while it would still be used for design visualization and VFX/Game development.

So the market-specific settings, including the default material library, have been moved to a sub-folder called Defaults. You can copy your library to the folder C:\3dsmax7\Defaults\MAX and rename it to be called MEDIT.MAT (rename your original MEDIT.MAT to .BAK or something) and it will be loaded automatically when you start Max.

Of course this could be done using MAXScript, but it is probably a better idea to use the Defaults. Note that you can have multiple defaults and switch between them anytime using Main Menu>Customize>Custom UI And Defaults Switcher. Just create a copy of the, say, MAX subfolder in the Defaults directory, rename it, make your changes to Mat.Library and local INI settings, then pick that Defaults entry from the switcher.
Max will store the path to the new defaults in the 3dsmax.ini under [Directories]/Defaults and next time you launch Max, it will use your new defaults until you switch again...
