Christopher Jewell has entered the Master and Servant 3D.

This is a little closer. I'm still not sure if I'll go with a close up or wide shot yet.

hi, i nice ideia you have
if i can say something, the close up is more dramatical, but loose de general idea of the big brain. you should try something between them. maybe the view comes from the brain? i don't know. that's the challenge

cjewell
04-06-2005, 05:45 PM
Thanks for the input. I agree, I was thinking of something between them also. I'll experiment with the camera in 3D a little when I get further along with the modeling.

I wanted to get most everything laid out before I put the details in. I think I may have the guy in the foreground laying on the ground dead after pulling the cord from his head. The head on the tentacle will be looking down at him with a sinister gaze.

I did some work on the background finally. The strands hanging from the ceiling are going to be bioluminescent and emit a soft greenish light. I want to make another round of tweaks and add some detail, but hopefully this weekend I can start texturing.

I'm actually a little surprised myself how close I got it to the sketch...lol. The only thing missing are the arms from the second sketch, they just didn't look right and you really couldn't see them anyway so they got the axe.

I see the star about to plant on the main human figure on the right but I don't see the wrap of that star type object around the other human figures that are all ready connected to the master. I was wondering if that is in the works and if you are planing to put that addition to the characters. Otherwise, this is one of my favorite pieces in this competition and I've been watching you closely. Keep up the great work :buttrock:

-To answer your question se7enthcin, I actually wrapped star type object around the heads of the other slaves last night...hehe. I may have another open one in the distance, not sure yet. I still have to replace the slaves with my updated version too.

Great update! It gives it a bit of motion, almost like a digital film snapshot.

Quick question, did all of the head clamps come out at once (like a ceremonial ritual for the people) or have some of them been there for a while and the one guy is being added to the collection?

Keep up the good work, I think you should end up in the books my friend!

buza_grrl

Very nice image.. I like the lighting in this one better than the previous one and the way the "things" eyes are glowing evil like on the servant.

The lighting is definitely better more "mood lighting"

cjewell
05-13-2005, 04:02 PM
Ducklips... he is a new member to the collection. Most are eager to share themselves with the mainbrain after a long faithful service on the surface... it is a great honor to be chosen for melding with the mainbrain, but this slave is having second thoughts after seeing what he's getting into. The headsnake gets great pleasure from seeing the fear. I plan on naming it "Second Thoughts". It has a double meaning...the slave is having second thoughts about giving himself to his master and the master is getting the slaves thoughts second hand...so it applies to bolth the slaves and master.

DaddyMack... Thanks man, I'll be tweaking til I can tweak no more!

buza_grrl... what's up buza! Thanks!

Whew, this is it! It was a pretty weird concept, but I think it works.

A short explanation...

Deep below the surface of the planet lies an ancient alien being. The brain power of this creature is enormous and can control the weak minded on the surface to prepare the world for the hatching of it's offspring. It takes many years to produce just one egg and when numbers are large enough for an easy take over the hatching will begin. The most devote servants are granted the chance of everlasting life within the consiousness of the mainbrain...or so they are told. The mainbrain really feeds off their thoughts draining the servants of all their life force causing a slow painless death.

The servant in the foreground is having second thoughts as the brain talon lashes out to begin the melding process. As stated in the previous post the title "Second thoughts" is supposed to have a dual meaning. The servant having second thoughts and the mainbrain recieving the servants thoughts second hand.

Well...I guess that sums it up...best of luck to all, and see you next competition!

I appreciate all the support from you guys, and you all have done an excellent job. The time spent here was well worth it on so many levels! Thanks again...I look foreward to the next competition and hope you all return as well. Now I'm returning to all the things I've neglected these past few weeks!

I love the final image. It's very surrealistic and moody, like looking at something from another dimension. :D You really captured a interesting vibe here. Congrats on finishing your piece! :applause:
