I just picked up the new Splinter Cell Chaos Theory for XBox. On the disc is a preview trailer for the Splinter Cell movie. I thought "WTF?" thinking it was just a replayable movie of the game intro. But nope. It is indeed a theatrical trailer, albeit very brief, for an upcoming movie. So I checked IMDB (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0439829/) and sure enough there is a listing for it! I also found this blurb (http://www.moviesonline.ca/film1620.htm) about it.

If the games are any indication, I am sure CG will be used quite extensively to bring the world of Splinter Cell to life. This should be good!

What's the trailer like? Does it show any footage? I'm betting this is in pre-pro considering they haven't announced any of the cast.

No real details in the trailer. Just the usual voice over and some game footage of Sam Fisher in action. About 30 seconds long if that. I watched it only once so I'll view it again to see if there's any more info.

Well, I'm a SplinterCell fan since SC1. I'm just at the 3rd level of Chaos Theory on the PC now. This looks to best Pandora Tomorrow easily (which was done by Ubi Shanghai btw).

As usual, I'm highly sceptic of a game to movie adaption becuz usually it'll get screwed up.
C'mon, movie versions of a game are meant to draw in huge amounts of mainstream or non gamers.

There have been rumours as Mark Wahlberg for the Sam Fisher role. I'm not saying he's a bad actor but that's gotta be the worst pick for the Sam role ever.

How in the world will they explain his shiny green goggles?:p

whats the point of a Splinter Cell movie? Pick any Tom Clancy movie and you've already seen Splinter Cell.

It's like Rambo, with technology.

having a splinter cell movie would be interesting yet i don't think that it would be a hit.. compared to many other Movie games, like resident evil or house of the dead, the movie doesn't seem as if it would make a good rate to me i believe...

Another notion is that I thought about the movie, and well if it writen well and the action or suspence is a hit then we have something going but other than that, not to make up a fantasy the movie wouldn't seem that spectacular.

Just another military action movie to me.

Sounds interesting, but I'm wary of whoever they'll get to play Fisher. He's larger than life, like Solid Snake, and I can't think of any actor who could pull either role off.

I think Russell Crowe would be the perfect Sam Fisher, probably cost too much though.

Sounds like a good idea, i love super spy films...however how are you ever gonna top
micheal ironside as the main actor i mean his voice is so distinctive..the lead i think would have to be someone older than mark wahlberg...someone experienced to have learned from many wars or conflicts..

i kinda think someone aged like richard dean anderson from stargate but super stealthy.

i think maybe some like russell crowe might have the rugged appearance of sam fisher and a distinctive voice to play him?

good god.....wahlberg? i know making a video game to movie usually has crap results but damn....wahlberg? that is dooming the movie before it even has a chance!

hollywood really has gone to sheight....not that they needed splintercell to prove it.

i dont like to take this stuff to seriously.... but if there IS a likeness to a decent actor to the game character it would be Bruce Willis....

Am I the only that one that thinks Sam Fisher looks like an ultra-buffed George Clooney?:D

um... wouldn't it be based more on the book than the game? As i recall, most of Tom clancy's movies have been pretty damn good. (never saw the last one though w/ Afflec) Loved Hunt for the red october.

As i have seen many video games with no story at all becoming movies, i believe that splinter cell is not that kind of v.game. There are a lot ways to make an interesting movie, using this scenario-strong character. From political intrigues to Nuclear-heads theft etc.

And Tom clancy's atmosferic movies are known to the public , like Hunt for the red october as a fellow mentioned earlier.

They made house-of-the-dead a movie!? What's next? Pacman ? :P

I think there are alot of good storylines they could follow maybe especially in this day and age.
there could be so many paths for the terrorists to go, using different tactics and weapons etc. mix that in with some kick ass special equipment spy gear, some decent production designer and actors oooooh possibly some plots twist at the end to make it resonant in the viewer minds?

i think there is an element of real life in a splinter cell story that is just lost in a videogame-movie like "Resident Evil" (rubbish) i just cant get on with creatures for badguys expecially really bad CGI (Resident Evil:apocalyse) at least in a splinter cell movie the bad guys would actually be real people.

Speaking of really bad videogame-movie everybody bracing themselves for the "Alone in the Dark" i just dont think its gonna work plus christian slater isnt really gonna help.

sorry i was rambling a bit there
