Latest Update: Final Image: Inner Demon

My master and servant depiction is of a mastery and slavery over oneself.
The portal and the arm reaching through the portal represent a mastery over
ones image, but a slave to ones perception. The arm of the person becomes
this portal, and from the portal extends the rest of his hand, this is to
give a supernatural, or spiritual feel, as to show that the person is
looking within himself, using their \"Third Eye\". The flames represent bad,
and the feather represents good, their appearance in this piece is simply to
show of their existence, the flames are overcastting the portal to show the
selfish aspect of the inward thinking. The poem describes the forces are
both within the person, and he has a certain control and a captivity to
both. The demon within the poem is neither good nor evil, but simply the
force that causes us to act, chose, and think in a way that is good or evil,
and that this demon, or human nature, keeps the delicate balance within
every person.

Um, i suck at drawing still a young college kid, havnt taken any classes yet to perfect techniques, so please excuse the crappiness that is...simply this is just a concept sketch of what positioning the person will have in the piece, i am doing a master and slave over oneselve...i am going to try and portay the relationship a person has with his or herself in the being a master and slave to the balance of good and evil within every person, i am going to try and create a type of mirror that will replace the mans right arm, then have the remaining part of the arm extend out of the mirror and touch the guys eye, to show a sort of master of the mirror, but slave to the perception, i will work on perfecting my idea as the days progress

i suppose this would constitute as a sort of line art, as bad as it is, im much better at digital creation than drawing..the waves signify a sort of smoke around the subject, i dont want the guy to have a face, as i feel the message would be much more effective without a defined face...also i want a sort of aura to emit from the mirror/portal...

Hey Bob Dylan couldn't sing, and he did pretty good. Anyway, what you've got so far works. Quite simple and expressive. I look forward to seeing it in color.

Good Luck.

Well this is what i sorta want it to look like, i like the idea of the personal features being non exhistant, but the shape of a man there, i feel more people can identify with something without a face, rather than one with a face...the idea of the mirror has become a portal of sorts....still it is to show the man looking within himself for he is a slave to his perception, and is the master of his image....i have written a poem that i will put into the piece and work on making the text fit in with the piece...

this would be pretty much the final without text, im satisfied with where i have gone with it, and i dont want to go much further, im afraid i may make it turn out worse than it is...anyways...the poem is "I am the Master,
I am the Slave,
To the Eternal Feather,
and the Burning Flame,
Sway to the rythm of the Demon inside.

this is to show the struggle of good and evil within everyone and they are represented with the feather and the flame, the feather represents all the selfless and good things we think and do, and the flame represents the selfish and sinister (therefore the mirror/portal to represent a sort of vanity.) the Demon is niether good nor evil, but more just an entity, and it is the force in all of use that causes us to think of certain thoughts, and to act on them...the arm reaching out of the portal is to represent his slavery to his own perception, and yet he has control over who he is outside and inside even though his perception may differ than the reality

hey this is what my final will look like, i need help in deciding whether the text is a good idea, or whether i need to remove it, or what because i am not sure exactly what i need to do to make this turn out somewhat successful....so plase give me some input...

hmm, this is a really interesting concept. i really like it. i like the text. i think it all depends on if the judges will actually read the description we send in with it. if they do, then maybe putting the poem in the description will be a better idea.

those smoke effects look really cool!
