It's easier to use the bottom menu ->Animation / Remove Animation / From Transform.

Thanks facial, i tried doing what you said with orientation, and transformation. so if i am on frame 10 and i rotate my arm up, and move a frame it snaps back intoplace again, so for somereason it is still moving do you have any ideas?

Maybe you're not selecting the right animator.
If we're talking about an arm, usually it's either animated with Arm bone + Forearm bone rotation (FK) or it's animated with the Chainbone Effector (IK) which should be constrained at the wrist and elbow.
Be sure to select the right animator.
Other option is, there's some tracks activated in the mixer...

are you sure you have no constraints or clips on the item?
have you tryied opening the kinematics panel for the guilty item(s) and see if the divot beside parameters is still empty and green? (ctrl+k for the kine window).
also did you make sure that, if the chain is on FK, the root, bones, or some parent don't have any rotations on it?

Thanks you guys, that did it. and that ctrl k tip is really useful for seeing what has shapes on it. my joint had a yellow key on it, and i read in the docs something about it being controlled or somethin in the f curve editor. so its grey now. and nothing moves, thanks again for the info.

learn what the various icons in the parameters divot mean NOW.
they are incredibly useful and immediate, a few examples:
red Fcurve = Kframe on current frame
green Fcurve = animated parameter but no Kframe at current frame
yellow Fcurve = animated parameter changed from it's Fcurve value but not yet keyed
gray C = constant expression
equal sign = equality expression
gray arrow = full blown expression
black untailed arrow on blue background = parameter currently overriden by something
plug icon = animation driven by a clip
plug icon with a plus sign = animation driven by a clip AND an additional element (Fcurve usually)
and many more, including constraints etc.
