Master and Servant 3D Entry: Bruzzese Dario

My first contest.
Usually I don't like to do something with a date for the end but for one time I'll try to think in a different way.I really like the theme of this contest and I'll try to do my best.

Here is the story:
He was born in a noble family and since the moment he was the first-born his parents decided he should receive a strict education.When he became able to understand the meaning of words he was sent to one of the most known istitution in his world:the light's school.The teachers were proud of this child that was so fast in learning and that was able sometimes to astonish them with magic he should not know.After the end of the school he should turn back home but he didn't feel anything for those parents that he never saw.
So he decided to travel around the world and during his travels he helped every person he could help without asking nothing in return.He became really known and his fame of good mage helped him to travel in many lands without any problem.He continued to travel untill he met a girl.She was beautiful,he never saw something like that in all his life and he would do anything he could to accomplish every desire of that girl.He stopped in the village where that girl was living and after a brief period they get married.The people in the village was pleasent of his precense since the moment they knew that he was a great mage.For two years his life was something beautiful,something he never thought could happen to him.
But the girl went sick and died in a short time.Also if his magic skills were great,he was not able to do anythig to save his love.The day the girl died he cried for the first time in his life and the rage for his failure became golden flames that enveloped the sky over the village.
A month was passed since the death of his beloved and he decided to become more stronger than he was by studing the dark art.He traveled around the world looking for those places that seem to exist only in legends,places where no human would like to go.He killed everything and everyone that could be an obstacle to him.Through cities in ruins that seemed to be ruled by shodows and desert where the only voice was the voice of his mind he finally reached the old sanctuary.In that sanctuary should be imprisoned a superior demon.Centuries ago the greater necromancer that ever existed,put all his knowlodge
in the mind of this demon who was imprisoned in the sanctuary. After a long battle in the sanctuary,his mind against demon's mind,he get the knowlodge but now the demon is trying to conditioning his mind.
For the moment he is the master....


Since the moment it's not a writing contest STOP.I had many ideas for this contest but this is the one I like the most.Next to come the images.

I use the sketches as a riferiment so don't take it in a to serious way.
In the final image there should be the mage flying in front of the demon and an energy conflux that envelope the demon.
The shot should rappresent the part of the story where the mage take the secrets hidden in the demon's mind.

Here is one part of the mage.As you can see it's different from sketch but while I was modelling I thought this style was better.Before I'll pass to textures probably there will be some changes also if I like how it already looks.Not sure if I must add gems in the belt or not and if I should model legs or not.I don't think,for the moment, legs will be visible in the final shot,so I'm not gonna doing them.For the armor I think I'll model what you see in the sketch.I'll put the sub-d version When I'll finish the model so be patient please.

After many tests I've finally found a shape I like for the backgroung.As you can see there are some parts I've taken from the sketch but I invented the rest while I was modelling.
To be honest I must say I don't like sketches and almost for all my cg stuff I don't use them.I'm yet working on the mage and I hope to finish it as soon as possible.

Another update.The mage is not completed yet but I've done some progresses.

Here it is an almost final version of the mage.This update has taken a lot of time since the moment I was not decided about the design of the arm armor and after many tests it has taken a while to choose the one you can see in the image.
How you can see his face has got asiatic traits.To tell the truth I didn't like asiatic traits for this character
but since the moment they work and today I'm tired I would leave it in
this way at least for the moment.
I think I could use some comments and critics.Going on with the last model:the demon.

hey there dude.. great progress... the model is looking good and well cleanely modeled.. a few crits from me if you dont mind.. I think first of al the chest a little disprportioned.. doesnt look right not sure why? i think you might need to widen it out a little bit. the armours looking fantastic.. the mans face does have asian/middleeastern traits looks a little like hes persian... which i think suits this character fine so good job with that.. i would scale those hands and wrists up as well right now it looks like he has baby hands.. the hips as well scale them out.. other then that this model is very well presented and good job dude.. keep it up!!

K,here it is the demon's head.The modelling stage is almost done,I'm gonna add only some minor touches.Next to come lighting and textures.

Your critic is good mate,I'll try to make the model look more strong.Since the moment there is an end date for the contest I can not go to much on with fixes and changes if I want to finish the whole scene.However I'll do my best to make it look good.

K,this is a test really close to the final scene.I changed the design of the demon,now I think it works better for this scene.I'm not sure if to add the particles flux that should envelope the demon.However I'm gonna pose the mage in the next days and texturing finally.This image rappresents really close what I had in mind when I started this contest.
I hope to finish to work on this piece in this week.

Here it is the textured servant.I used almost all procedurals.I've not decided yet if to put the particle vortex that should envelope it or not.In the next update I'll try to post the mage textured.Let me know what you think about this update.

Here it is the mage textured.As you may notice the skin shader is not that good but since the moment the light in the final scene will be really strong and the mage will be far from the camera I think that a good skin shader will not make the difference.The colors scheme I've chosen for the armor seems good to me but I've not played to much with colors.I think I'll do another update and then I will post the final image.

This is a test really close to the final image.Probably in the final scene I will change the position of the arms and I will add some particles in the hands of the mage.

Here it is the final image.I've done some tests with a different position for the arms and particles in the mage hands but at the end this is the version I like the most.I had some fun in this contest and it was interesting to see
so many good artists working on their scene.This has been my first contest and maybe I will join another challenge
in the future but now I need to improve my skills.
