has anybody had problems with the c-dilla license? I keep getting a "component of the software license is not available. the program will exit. (code 1)" message. I un-installed c-dilla, re-installed it and i'm getting the same message. has anyone figured out a way to fix this? last time this happened, i had to completely slick the harddrive and re-install everything to get 3dmax4 working again. would appreciate any help.
thanks

well, i think if you go into the c:\cdilla folder, there should be a file with a bunch of numbers(i think) and what you need to do is delete it. I'm not sure if that will help though.

If you havn't used it you may want to snag the update for the cdilla here:
Discreet updates (http://www.discreet.com/support/max/download/download.php3#)

and be charged $65 for help? c'mon. when there's got to be somebody that's experienced the same thing around this forum before? i've chatted with Darv but it's all the same solutions that aren't working for me.

thanks for the links Alex.

I've un-installed both c-dilla AND 3dmax4 and as expected it's asking me to re-authorize max...well, when i try to do that, i'm getting an error that says i've exceeded the amount of times i can authorize it. so now, not only was i getting the code 1 error (licensing component not available) but also an authorization error.

i've been going back and forth with Darvin (on the discreet support site)....nothing yet. i called their offices and they told me that it's $65 if you all. the first 30 days is exactly that...the first 30 days AFTER you purchase 3dmax. after that, it's time to fork over the money. you'd think that support would be free for people that actually purchased the software but i guess there's yet another way to take money from the consumer.

i spent 3 hours trying to figure it out with Darv tonight....great guy...loves his work and is extremely professional by the way.....

we're supposed to work on it tomorrow and see if we cna figure this out some more.

i'm thinking it may require me to reload my OS also. hope not.

man if I had a dollar for everytime this has happened to me i'd
ehr . . . have ehr . . . 13 dollar :D

anyways. the afore mentioned solutions SHOULD work, BUT they don't always. The shit part is that everytime you install max you get offered a different lisence number.

I have a legal version of max, complete with serial & auth.code. but I have to go to http://registration.discreet.com/ every time I install to get a new authorisation code.

so if you have a legal copy of max, that should be the way to go . . .

if not. than your in the screwed if the afore mentioned solutions don't work.

didn't work. the conclusion that i've come up with so far is that norton's is doing something that prevents the registry from being updated with C-dilla. we did a search for a c-dilla component in the registry and it's NOT THERE! tried several options but it's not working.

i've got a legal copy of 3dmax4 and darv was kind enough to not charge me the moolah and is going to call back tonight to continue the great support that we all know comes from the jedi master himself!

last resort....reload OS.....which he doesn't want to happen. fortuately he's going to take this to norton and see if they can fix it.....BUT, unfortunately, there have only been about 8-10 cases like mine and he thinks it's a possible 3dmax problem...due to this not coming up on the norton error database and c-dilla database.

more later.

oh and i'd have 3 dollars.
