ok, maybe some of you already have had the same problem but sometimes when i render a multipass with all channels and all lights some layers don't seem to match each other correctly whe i open up the file in photoshop.
here is the example:

http://www.derwolpertinger.de/cgpics/borderline.jpg

do you see that pretty annoying white line on the left side. i already checked the lights and found out that the 3 layers of the key light that comes from the left side do not match up correctly. i have had this problem with other scenes and renders, too. but not alwyays. well, i'd really like to get rid of those immediately so if anyone has an idea how to. thx in advance! ;D

PS: no, the white line is no specular highlight. ;)

Try making each light layer a false color like full on purple,or even try using difference mode,then zoom way in and line up all of the edges {in Photoshop}

Hi Wolpertinger -in Photoshop: Ebene -> Hintergrund -> Weiss entfernen oder Rand entfernen! That´s all!

pretty strange, you know when you render a multipass you have also a background layer at the bottom where the whole image is shown(all layers above merged). and in this background layer pic, there is no white line. it looks just perfect. that's weird.

Have you checked the alpha? Cinema produces alphas with an 1 pixel offset!! Annoying!

hey pit, i did not render an alpha channel. ther is none in photoshop. your suggestion with ebene->hintergrund->weiss entfernen did not work. :(
i just went with the background layer cause it looked ok but i still would like to know how this white line problem can be avoided.
so here is the pic:

i've spent a lot of time on the lighting. what do you think? it is rendered w/o radiosity. i thought about posting it together with the expressions pics you have already seen over at the the gallery/finished work section. do you think it's worth it? and plz be honest. :D

can't give you a real help i also got only a german version of PS here right now.
Maybe i can find an english one over the day.

This function ,Pit mentioned is used to reduce a blury white border. Normaly if you crop an image there is a white border.
(If you are a real PS Guru then probably not).

You can use this function to reduce the white border.
Normaly i would have done it this way. (don't laugh at me Pit)
draw a path -> make a selection ->
go into selection -> modify selection -> reduce -1 px -> invert selection -> delete. I think this way is sometimes creating a hard border but it works.

the option is Layer->Defringe, or Layer ->Remove white/black matte

the trouble is those are for transparent layers and what you would have to do is copy the layer, paste it into a new channel, option select the channel to select it as a mask, make a new layer and ctrl del to fill the layer with your colour. then do one of those... it's really much simpler to move the layer or select the outside colour with the magic wand and grow the selection before filling with black or whatever colour.

really you should report this as a bug to maxon... it's certainly not a desireable feature, and i'm sure that if you reported it now there's a chance that it might get rectified if not in the final release then at least in the first update.

You are using one multi psd file right?,all layers in the one file?,or do you have separate layers which you are dragging in to the original file?,because if you do sometimes PS does a crap job of lining up a dragged and dropped layer from a different file.Try holding down shift if its also from one file to another as you drag :)

There are also times in the document window when it looks like you have a white fringe around the edge of your file,but on zooming in you will find there is not actually one there.

Ya no thats cool bud :) ...its just sometimes PS will do that,but this definitely seems like an XL7 issue.

Is it better or worse if you use geometry as opposed to best?.....might be worth a try.

Lets hope that advanced render does not have the same flaw :hmm:
