Does anybody know a good book that explains step by step how to make a video game? from preproduction to final output to master?

Or maybe we could start a nice thread that talks about a step by step gamemaking.

It's not a technical book, but I strongly recommend "Game Development Essentials" by Jeannie Novak, published by Thomson Delmar Learning. It's a great introduction to the gaming industry and the various steps involved in game development.
