Anybody know of any good mr lighting tutorials? I've found a few that go through step by step, which is fine, but I kind of have troulbe figuring out a few things that aren't really explained, and am looking for more of an explanation of sorts. The main problem/confusion I have is when it comes to shadow types. I can get a basic interior lit and such, but what kind of shadows should I use to make it more realistic? This also goes for creating a sunlight and having it go through windows in an interior... what kind of light should i use for this? Should I make a mr_area spot? or should i actually use the ies sun? Also: what kind of shadows if I should use a regular spotlight? I guess the question would be, what kind of setup is better for these types of renders for quality... not so much speed (maybe a good value of both) Also I'm curious as to what settings I should use for photon size and final gathering... The tuts i've seen generally have a really small photon size, with lots of photons, then final gather it to smooth everything out. I've also seen, though, using big photon size also, so what's best? Also: In a few of those tuts i've seen (such as evermotion.org) they use omni lights with shadow maps for all of their lighting, and use attenuation, but why for? I hope somebody knows what I'm getting at... thanks!!!
