If you look at the (IMO) impressive video of Vue Infinite 5 on their site, it specifically stated that it supports camera and light export to a bunch of 3d programs, including C4d. Whether or not that means a Lightwave file that C4d can read, who knows.

It may be a while before the demo emerges, so has anyone bought it yet that can give impressions?

It does support multipass renders, though.

For complete scenes it is .3ds or lightwave. Otherwise, .c4d export is just objects. The procedural stuff (eco-systems) doesn't go out at all. So far I'm pretty impressed with the program, but have yet to really put it through its paces, either by itself or in conj. with cinema 4d, yet so far so good. The eco-system is great stuff. Skies can be exported in all sorts of ways, including hdri(s). Discovering new stuff each day.

I had thought if you export some camera data from Vue 5 as lightwave format, Cinema could read it. That's how Syntheyes and PFHoe work.

Glad to hear it is cool, though. The outdoor scenes, especially with full plantlife, look VERY impressive.

How are the render times so far? They claim they can render billions of polygons, but at what cost?

Yeah, camera data will come into cinema via .3ds or lightwave. Though the lighwave seems more spot on in comparison to the same camera orientation in Vue. Haven't got a total bead on the rendering yet. The eco-system stuff is really fast, because it is converting polygon objects to a material, eco-system actually being part of the material system... sort of like stormtracer. On other stuff, still haven't gone full bore on a high-end render. Though, cinema is just so damn responsive with feedback and render times, something new seems slow... but I am getting fairly descent speeds out of it, but it is no AR.
