Okay I am totaly confused. Mabey it's me.....

I'm trying to render an image in Maya Vector. The name of the MAYA file is BOLTs.
I preview the model and all is fine, looks great.

So I then set up a 20 Frame animation. Set the File name to "test_anime".
Specify Start 1 end 20. I then Select NAME (MULTIFRAME). Set the extension to .swf

Sounds good so far. Right?

Well i batch render it, and it Renders 20 individual files. BUT the best part is the files are not even vector, they are iff. AND too boot the File name is the name of the Maya File "Bolts" and not the "test_anime" name I assigned it.

HELP... I'm going insane.

Is it me? Or is Maya Vector crap.

Thanks.

Well, first of all, yes, Maya vector sucks. I've used it with decent results but i'm pretty sure you can get a better vector image a different way. I've of using mental ray somehow, and getting better result, but then it won't be export as swf, it's actually raster that looks vector.

BUT ANYWAY!

I don't think you're problem is the vector renderer. When you open the render globals window again, are all of your settings messed up? Try using a different render and see if you get the same results. One of my friends had this problem once, and he had to delete some node. Resetting his preferences didn't work.

I'll see if I can find out what he did to fix it and post back if nobody else figures it out.

Hey thanks for the reply.

The settings seem fine.

The problem is, it has to be a vector file not an image, vector outlines to be exact. It's going in a flash file with a background. I'm actualy happy with the quality.

If you could find out what your friend did to fix this that would be awsome.

thanks for the feedback.

If eps or .ai works you can render to those formats.

If you go into the globals for the vector render (which is the same render engine as Swift 3D, alias licenses it from Electric Rain) Select "multiframe vector" under image file output, then you can choose eps, or Illustrator as file formats for vector. I tried .ai but photoshop CS could not open it. But eps seems to work.
