I was wondering if it was possible to create a plugin in C4D 9 that would allow you to place a referenced .c4d file inside another .c4d file?
For example....let's say you build a model of say a car. Save it as car.c4d and then create a new scene (scene.c4d). I think an interesting workflow would to be able to create a sort of "linked NULL" to a separate .c4d file.
In the scene.c4d file you could rotate, scale, position the car anyway you like and then if you need to make any changes to the car, simply open the car.c4d, edit and save. then the scene.c4d file would automatically update the linked NULL to reflect the changes.
The benefits:
- ability to work on a shape without the scene clutter
- ability to work on shape centered and square in space
- ability to make one edit that would then ripple across multiple scenes
I'm sure there are more...It doesn't seem like it would be very difficult to implement, but i'm not a programmer so i could be way off.
Any thoughts?
