Here is my first clean sketch. The story is about the old trio: the dragon, the knight and the armour bearer. The dragon was the master. His servant-the knight, killed him. But he is not happy now. Maybe good servants don't kill their masters? Even if they are evil. Maybe the dragon's throne is too big for the new master?
Any comments?

I fixed some problems and making the idea more clear. Now, back to work.

Phew, finally. This part I hate most of all. Maybe the most important and most annoying part of the process. It's like "final modelling". To give an almost final touch to so many shapes... and a little simple color test.

Think it's final-final line art. It's messy, but I'm not going to use these lines in the image. They'll be only my guides. Good guides, I hope Q:-)<-<

I desided to design&color this first, because it will be one of the most important areas in the composition.

Just when I think I've seen it all, I find something like this. Morgy, I hope you provide a link to this thread in your signature so that more people can see it. The stained glass window is looking beautiful. All the detail in the knight's armor, the engravings on the broken wall and the swirling clouds remind me of one of Albrecht Durer's engravings. And then, there's the monkey. . . :curious:

From the knight's skin tone I'm assuming he was slain. Is the monkey carrying a burial shroud, or does he not realize that his master is dead? This is going to be amazing when it's done!

Hey! Love that style! I think the Illuminated Manuscript style of Fantasy art is the wave of the future: AND YOU ARE ON IT! Congrats......

Dern it all, htough I wish that sword wasn't in such a potentially dangerous location, but hey, that guy is hard-core.....

Thank you very much, guys for the comments.

Ilikesoup- You're right, I like Albrecht Durer (and Peter Broegel too) - he is always so...serious in his works, you know.
The death of the knight is not real, only part of him is dead-this of the knight-servant. And the monkey-squire is giving him the battle flag. The knight doesn't want it because there is a portrait of his ex-master on it - the dragon he has slain.

Muttonhead- I had a look at your site and understood what you mean by "Illuminated Manuscript"- precision, paying attention to the details, high seriousness and hell lot of work!:buttrock:I love it :buttrock:

Many thanks to all for the support. Many thanks to the music of Tracy Chapman for being with me during the long nights, to "The Kinks"- for the sunny afternoons and to "Megadeth" which were with me when I was angry...again.
Here is the story again. There was a kingdom rulled by a mighty dragon. His right hand was a fearsome knight. The Dragon was a tyrant, but the kingdom was rich and powerful.
One day the Knight decided that his master is too evil and oppressive and killed him. The picture here is an illustration of the death of the Dragon-master and Knight-servant. The Knight is not actually dead, because he reborns in Knight-master. His squire, the monkey is happy because of the victory of his master and gives him the battleflag. But the flag is useless-there is a portrait of the Dragon embroidered on it. The spiral-looked cloud is a symbol of the doubt- " Is it right for servants to kill their masters even if they are evil?". The stained-glass window is a symbol of absolution of sins. The light which is coming through the window is variegated(not bright) and the forgiveness is not certain.
