I just got my Machine Flesh book this afternoon and I'm totally blown away by the quality of the images in print. Viewing the challenge entries on CGNetworks was great, but WOW! in print every image looks crisp, detailed and sharp. These images really take on a new life in this book.

I keep looking through the book, checking the vibrant colors, reading the contestant's comments on their entries and ... damn, I just can't tell you how awesome this is to have a hard copy record of such a fantastic challenge!

Congrats to all the participants who got printed in the book. Massive thumbs up to Leo, Leigh, Mark, Daniel and the rest of the Ballistic staff for another awesome book. My home library is quickly filling up with Ballistic Media titles and they're some of my favorite to review for inspiration.

This book definately motivates me to complete the current and future challenges.
The down-side is that now I'm anxiously waiting for the GSO challenge book to ship. :D

Yeah, the images above don't do it justice (really dull looking here by comparison) ... once you get your copy, you'll understand.

Just to echo the above post, the Machine Flesh challenge was probably the highest quality wise contest ever hosted on cgtalk.

Kudos to all front runners, and participants.

Well, I'm a little suspect to talk about the book but WOW! I just got mine tonight and that's amazing! Great to see these works printed because the printed version is just MUCH BETTER than the images posted online. So many details revealed! I really enjoyed to follow the great insights from different artists. Congratulations to all the team involved and to all the artists that presented such a great material for the challenge.

Just got my copy today, and I must agree that the print quality is outstanding; the images really look great. Lots of little details I never noticed before, and even a few images I think I missed during the challenge.
Its a great feeling to see my work in print, great thanks and congratulations to everyone involved.

Its a shame that FaustoDeMartini's image couldn't get in the book:sad:
The making-of articles make for interesting reading, some inspiring insights.

By the way, a little late now, but I just noticed that I made a spelling/gramatical error. "I gave the image a slight plumb tint to the shadows" should actually read "I gave the image a slight plum tint to the shadows".

Just adding another compliment to a great book produced by a great team.

What you are doing is being appreciated (the challenges, and everything related) and will be even more so in the future when people look back and realise what effect these events are having on new and seasoned artists. Not just the exposure, immediate response and direction, but the sense of community where people share ideas and techniques as apposed to the lonely hours spent scribbling away in a studio somewhere in the world.

I commend CG Talk on making the 'art world' a little smaller.

Here's to the future.

My copy arrived today. I'm speechless. I thought I'd seen the best there is in this industry with the Expose series, but this first CGChallenge book raises the bar again. And there's more of them on the way. Everyone involved, in the challenge, at CGnetworks and Ballistic, you can be proud of what you have achieved

I can only think of one thing that's better than these books. That'll be my own work featured in one of them.
