Hello,
Count me in. I am a noob at these contests so please let me know if I do anything wrong.

I'm working on a "hard science" entry: luna 9, the first automatic probe to land on the moon.

-----------------

Sent by the soviets end of january 1966 it was the first successfull landing on the moon of a human made object. Previous attempts crashed or missed the target end went past the moon.

It was launched by a R7 molnyia rocket from Baikonour spaceport. This launcher has 4 stages (last one is the luna 9). It is really a missile but a non-destructive one still used (modified of course) as the soyouz launcher.

The lunar probe made a wonderful mission and sent tv pictures and soil tests. It didn't last long but it was enough to let everyone know that a landing on the moon was possible.

-----------------

here is the "i cannot work without one" storyboard (5 pages - 24 shots).

and it's small sidekick movie, the pasted together storyboard images:

I need to keep on modeling and do some layouts as I already have such a long sequence with guessed timing, I will refine this.

Of course as a Hard science entry I will have to modify some of the storyboard if I discover new reference material giving me better understanding of the mission ( I would love to have a scientifc brief on this but... it is a contest and I cannot afford such help (yet).

See ya for some wips
