View Full Version : Controling particles with images
olcho 03-31-2005, 09:09 PM I'm sorry that I'm kind of repeating myself, but I really need this. Does anyone know how to control particles by using file textures? I know it can be done by using ramps. But if I put a file texture instead of the ramp, nothing really works.
Pleeeease help!

hi olcho,
r u saying u want to emit particles based on images ?
well this u can get by assigning a file texture in the emiter's tab > texture emiter attributes tab > there u can give a map to the texture rate and check that "enable texture rate" option..
hope it helps..

you can maybe use the MEL commande colorAtPoint.
if you have a goal surface maped and the goalU and goalV info, you can get the RGB or alpha at the U and V position of a particle on the goal object.
you can use this color info (from 0 to 1) to drive your particles has you want

Thanks joss3D! Yesterday I found how to do it and what you're saying is exactly what I did. It worked like a charm! :)
