Custom Transitions and effects

I've been messing around with using Lightwave to make Transitions.
I was wondering if there is a way to use the alpha from the rendered animation in DFX+ as a mask or somthing to where i can apply the rendered(alpha) effect to any peice of video instead of having to rerender the same effect in Lightwave.

you can use the luma of a layer within the disolve tool easily enough. Just pipe it into the pink input.

You could also use it as a bitmap mask on any other tool.

Word! Thanks :) i knew it had to be a use for the dissolve tool.
I should have looked at it a little harder.
Now I have to try the Bitmap mask stuff.
