I just can't call elderly people "old lady" or "old man". Maybe because of being so accustomed to calling all elderly people "babushka" or "dedushka" in Russian as a child, meaning "grandmother" or "grandfather" even if they were complete strangers. (my own grandparents i would never call "old lady/old man", lol :) ) Surely these people who have seen so much of the world, should only be addressed with affection and respect...
thusly, I shall call my new project, "sad grandmother" instead of "sad old lady":

This is what i have done so far. It's part of a project for Illustration class, I'm supposed to create 3 images working with emotion through use of colour... so I'm going to do images of a little girl, a young woman, and a grandmother.
And no, the photo reference I'm working from is not of my own grandmother. :) Just a photo i found online. (and immediately lost the original link for. :( )
Comments/critique would be greatly appreciated. :)
