View Full Version : Microsoft/SoftImage french court ruling.
dark_lotus 09-27-2002, 12:05 PM I found this of an article on www.salon.com
"[a] 2001 French court decision against Microsoft, fining the company 3 million francs for illegally incorporating another company's code into the Softimage 3D animation package"
I was just wondering if someone could explain in a little more detail what this is about, because its not clear from the paragraph, just that it suggests that Microsoft makes SoftImage.
Thanks.

I believe the abbreviated version is that when M$ bought the Soft 3D license from Avid, they carried on publishing it including a module from a small French firm that still owned the rights. That's where their copyright infringement came from.
It is old news, but still gives me a giggle :D
