View Full Version : Monsters, Inc. ......... not exactly
randyrives 09-27-2002, 02:12 AM Just playing more with organic modelling and modelling in general with Cinema 4D.
Not sure if I will develop this more or not. I thought about doing more monsters and doors. Maybe doing a complete factory floor.
What do ya'll think?

i'd suggest to model first and then when you are done modelling start texturing. :)
i can say that i don't like the textures so far cause they look very cg. try to add some irregularity to them, too. ahh and the eyes, you can see the polygon edges there. just subdivide them once more or throw them in a hypernurbs. furthermore the eye texture shows no depth in it and i think no really good specular. maybe you should model the iris and stuff to achieve a deeper look. ther e are some tutorials about it on the web. as for the texture, increase the specular highlight to get a more glossy look. and plz tell me what the floor should be? for me it looks to much coloured. maybe a basic concrete texure would fit more (just like in monsters inc.). the colour are overall a bit oversaturated i think.
hope i helped you a bit. :D

Yeh, start with the model and work your way to texturing. Providing a model looks right you can get away without a texture but a texture on a half finished model looks dodgy!!:shame:
I would say give this guy an extra tenticle or he looks like he will fall over......and sort the eyes out, way too obvious....try using SLA for texturing the irises (see the channel presets that come with 7.3)....
