Title: Population Control
Name: Scott Anderson
Country: Australia
Software: Vue d'Esprit

Future vision of population "cause and effect".
"We are the masses".
Tech stuff: This image was created after my first test renders with the new EcoSystem in Vue 5 Infinite (V5I). The V5I EcoSystem allows you to duplicate many objects without too much strain on PC requirements. I don't think e-on quite had this type of image in mind when they created the ecoSystem... but I just can't help myself :D
I have a bunch of other V5I images on my site at
sacada.com.au (http://www.sacada.com.au/sacada_Vue5Gallery.asp?url=cgt) for your vueing pleasure. ;)
"Population Control" is rendered at 2500 x 1875 in Broadcast mode. There are 3 main light sources and Global Illumination.
Here are some image details:

That is amazing! I like the idea a lot and the city planet is great!
Love it, love it, love it!
Only crit: I would move the sun and hide it a bit behind the main planet. imho it is too bright and kind of divert the attention from the main subject of the image.

:bounce:

Keep it up!

unbelivable good stuff..
the idea and the modeling is awesome
although i think the composition and that lens flare could be improved it still looks stunning..
maybe you should try using a more squeezed rectangular crop to increase depth of the image( animage aspect ratio like 2.35/1)
just my two cents..

congrats

ok...from the esthetik point of view, there are some things that could be improved, like lighting and composition. Also the lens flare is a bit too cliche. Reminds me a bit of those 3standard photoshop flares
Anyway, its extremly impressive

How long was the rendering time?

edit: WOW! Excelent stuff on you site!

I agree with some of the other posters. The technology is AMAZING but the image could really use some work as far as aesthetics and composition go. There are so many small details that the image from afar just really looks like a couple spheres with a lens flare.

First design a awesome image, THEN think about the technology :)

My good score vote goes for "Details 2" still.

You gotta love that ecosystem. Maybe you should have called this image "overcrowded".
I agree though with some of the other posts. But I do give you points on working with ecosystems in way few have. Far more interesting. By the way....How long was you render and what machine did you use. Cheers.

Thanks for all your comments and crits.

The render took around 30 hours at the resolution of 2500 x 1875. It took a while because of the Global Illumination, not the ecoSystem.

i would definately hide the sun behind your objects... use it as a rim light... the lens flare is just way too cheesy.

Well done! I'm impressed by the possibilities that V5I offers with the EcoSystem. Untill now I avoided terrain generator programs - but this seems to be very useful!
