View Full Version : Looking for honest opinions
Digimatrix 03-29-2005, 12:01 AM Hello Everyone!
I am looking for a bit of help in with this piece. It is acrylic on canvas board (and I am not a great photographer, so the shininess of the paint kind of took over).
I did use a reference photo.
I have been staring at it over a month now, and can't get into my head what needs to be done except for giving her a slight smile.

Thank You all for looking, and many thanks to those who can get me looking into places I haven't thought of.

It's been sitting around for months? What needs to be done? I would say "Frame it". It's a nice painting.
The posistion of her head on her shoulders does look a bit odd to me though. It's like her neck is growing out of the left side of her body, instead of being centered in the middle.

Thank You!

Great work! I wouldent mess with the smile. It looks good.
The only advice i would give is to "POP" the light source just a little by doing a gradient...
The brightest bright, is just as bright on her head, as it is on the strands at the edge of the painting.
And your middletones, the reds, the blue hair, are the same values everywhere on the painting.
If your middletones got darker the farther away from the figure, and your highlights were less intense the farther you go out, i think it would make it more powerfull.
also the shoulders dont seem like much of an issue with me. They could be tweeked but there not distracting at all.
excelent work. I hope to see more of your posts soon. :)

i see a lot of tim burton style lately or maybe its just me because i love his work :)
anyway great image unusual pose, i would make them arms a bit wider so they look flat on the ground she looks a bit hunched up.

I am influenced by many artists, Burton being one of them.
You might also see a bit of Klimt in this piece, though not as successfully done.
