Latest Update: Concept Sketch: round 2 on fairy

Gave it a 2nd go at the fairy. As mentioned by some, I tried to improve on the neck length, the positioning of the leg and upper torso views, some more shading in the abdominal area, and did what I could with the feet. -- Thanks for all the helpful input.—

Next I plan on attacking the wizard and the background. As I sketch the story keeps evolving. I now believe the wizard to be enchanted/seduced by the fairy despite his “superior” magical ability.

thanks guys, going to need it. this entire thing is a learning process for me. I have never painted on the computer before joining this site a few days ago. Have any tips!? anyway these are the sketches i have so far .its a story about a wizard who has a fascination with collecting fairies, who then dance for him . ...still working on it. there is something not right with the fairy, but i cant place it. any help would be great.

Can't see any of your images yet. The first tip would be to post them as part of your entry with the 'Submit Entry' button which allows you to upload your files for horting on the CGTalk server and make them part of your official entry. After that, we'll all be able to see them as part of this thread and comment appropriately. Good luck!

Looking good! i like your figure/ pose. I think some realy good defined cast shadows over her body will realy make the figure pop out.

Looking forward to this one finished!

Okay, at least now we can all see them easily! Nice sketches, and interesting concept. I'm not reading much emotinal content in their faces just yet, and I think punching the expression on both of them could help comvey the Master and Servant relationship between them and how they feel about it.

As for the fairy, you might consider more curves in the legs, defining the arc of those muscles a bit more. Also, the attachment of the upper legs to the hips might be a little off at this point, but it's a really hard pose to nail. (It also conveys dancing wonderfully, so keep the pose! :) ) Her legs mostly read asa side view but there they attack to the hips reads more as a front view. It could just be the shadows, but I loose a sense of roundness in the lower belly/hip area. It's also possible that her head is too small, but I'm not sure. I'm not sure what to say about the feet, they're not human feet, but then, she's not a human! Anyhow, hope these notes have been in some way helpful. You're off to a good start...Good luck with it!

It looks great now, except for that funny thing that happend to hir hip after shadowing it out to black. Better add some detail there it'd be nice (and I didn't mean detail in abdominal area at all :) , just the hip)
