View Full Version : Raytracing Rendering problem with background shader

I am trying to render a scene with alpha channels and I'm using a background shader on the background objects. The rendering goes fine but for some reason the alpha channel gets messed up. It doesn't manage to remove all objects through the alpha channel as it is supposed to and this only happens when I use raytracing. I've tried reducing the reflectivity of the background object with the background shader assigned to, to 0, but it doesn't help. The alpha channels are created as the should when I turn raytracing off. I'm using Maya 6. Does anybody know any solution for this problem or know why this is happening?
Thanks in advance

What software are you using?

Sorry, forgot to write that... I'm using Maya 6.0

Maybe you have some reflections turned on in the Use Background shader?

I have reduced the reflectivity of the background shader to 0. There shouldn't be any reflections on them.
Here is an example of the problem I'm having;

1. Foreground image

2. Background image

3. Composited image(with pointers)

The gray parts shouldn't be showing since they're parts of the object I've assigned the background shader on. This only happens when I have raytracing on.
Are there any substitutes to using the background shader btw?
