You talk about the global illumination effect or the light fog ??

I think he wants a GI look for the scene, if so just use global illumination, final gather or ambient occlusion and if you use well painted textures you have even more control, well there are few ways to get this look, just try to find the fastest/best :) but it's nothing hard to do, good luck.

hey guys, im sort of recreating the scene so i want the light colour/fog to be exactly the same, and the main problems im experiencing in Maya is creating decent looking lights, so if anyone could help/guide me on how to do this i would be very gratefull.

Well Ira Kane has explain that you could use GI to recreate this kind of ambience, actually you could use mental ray and tweak the lights attributes to get it... but if you're not enough experimented with it i'd suggest you to take a look at the script GI Joe, easy script that could help you to have an approach of this kind of lighting... can find it on www.pixho.com or highend3d.com

btw, this short is rendered with Renderman, a powerful renderer, that's why the scene looks so realistic...Shaders make a lot about the scene !

Hope it helps,

It should contain a readme file where everything is explained, if not, search for one of my posts where I answered this in detail some time ago.
