Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows how to do a moving outline kind of effect (like a tracing kind of thing) in video? In illustrator it might be done by drawing a pen outline of a person and then stroking it, but is there an easier way in video than simply doing it frame by frame?

An example of what I'm talking about can be seen in this video of a breakdance comp in europe:

Oh, I'm using after effects.
thanks

hey Kieran, the link you posted is down. Account suspended or something? If you have saved the video, I can host it temporarily for you.

You're gonna need some way to isolate the footage you're wanting to outline (keying, roto, alpha channel on a 3D image). There's the "stroke" tool. "Vegas" also has some interesting effects if you don't have a matte to use.

Good luck!

just roto the shape (person) and stroke it.. or use 3dstroke as suggested. :)
