done...

no deep story behind this.. A father travels to hell to retreive his sons lost teddybear and has to battle hellish minions.

parents often do ridiculous things for the sake of their children.

After I cycled through most of the cliches when it comes to master servant I had the Idea that people are a slave to their own will/desire. For example.. In order to achive something you will/desire you generally have to go through things you would rather not do. This concept sketch is of a guy at the beach.. reclining in a nice chair with a martin or something.. holding the puppet strings to himself while he sits at his boring desk job. Telemarkiting data entry or some other ungodly boring thing no one would ever want to end up doing. I was thinking Im gonna make the cubicle as much like a jail cell as possible with out being to obvious. Im open to all critiques of my concept since/ sketch.
Thanks..

I finally have had some time to actually work on this with all the assignments Ive been getting from professors.

I guess this counts as my lineart because I dont ever draw out anything past a scribbly mess to map proportions when I paint.

I kept with my pupeteering, slave to your own will idea, Just revamped it slightly and I think this is much more unified than the previous concept sketch. Im just playing with colors and forms right now.

Id appreciate any type of feedback.. anything but indifference is fine with me.

I got really bored with my previous concept. So I just started playing around and concepted this and Im enjoying it. A bit of a stretch on parents being servants to their childeren.. This barbarian/warrior what have you has just killed alot of people to return the little boy his teddy bear.
Plenty of bodies will be added later..
any type of comments welcome..

ok well I havent actually painted the teddy bear in yet Ive been dealing with everything else.

Originally I just had the boy standing in the same hellish enviroment infront of the kneeling man and after thinking about it It didnt make sense.

The concept as I said last time is a that parents will do insane things for their childeren.. an exaggeration.. go to hell kill a bunch of men/demons to return a stolen favorite teddy bear..

well it didnt make sense to include the boy in the hellish enviroment so Im playing with this merging of enviroments idea, the boy being pure..so green grass.. and flowers bunnies.. etc.

also I need to start blocking in the dead bodies..

Some one please comment..

The previous guardian I had was a bit to badass and seemed like he belonged more in the hellish enviroment rather than being a visiting ass kicker regaining a teddy bear.

once again.. some one please click on the \"post reply\" reply button.. its located at the top at bottom of the page.

still not happy with the sword and have yet to paint in the grass bunnies and flowers but Im rather satisfied with the cracked ground. I wasnt sure if id be able to paint it.

Ive still got the bodies of the dead to look forward to painting in.. which should be alot of fun.. as of now they are nothing but a buch of black shapes on a layer to work out scale

I guess I shouldnt even bother asking or welcoming crits any more.

Ahhh Chin up lad

Its sometimes difficult to spend many hours on one piece, and its inevitable that there will be times you become sick and tired at looking at the same image. I think its a real shame you gave up on your previous concept...it was shaping up really well.

The new concept is good, but im my humble opinion your previous concept has a stronger story thread, and with it looking close to completion i think you should persevere with it

Oh well, whatever you decide mate, Good luck

Thanks for your time and comments

Im going to continue on with the current concept because well, Im enjoying it and since I really dont have a realistic chance of placing Im just enjoying myself.. and pushing to see if I can finish before the deadline.

besides.. Ive heard many professors, peers, etc.. say if your not excited about your work then how can other people be.

Thanks again.

just starting to add in the dead army.. Well rather Im finally satisfied with the guardian/boy enough to move on and work on other areas.

time ticking down and it looks like Ive got just enough time to wrap things up.

oh, ive repainted the coulds.. added a hint of a portal where the child is running out from, tightened the background.. tweaked the color balances.. repainted the tunic. tighted everything.. increased and decreased saturation in certain areas.

the bunny and the butter flies were rather entertaining to paint, not my usual subject matter.

well the story telling element when I cropped it down to this was just much stronger than ther larger version, I had to much stuff going on.

just tweaks now.. adjusting saturations refining. and noodling.

Im having alot of trouble submitting my final image..

I saved my psd as a tiff. used jpeg compression. Then I renamed my file the assigned file name in my case its "138397_86792.zip" then it turns into "138397_86792.zip.tif"

and I keep getting error uploading final image.

did I not save the file correctly?

Im using the Ipswitch ws_ftp program you get through the begginers guide to ftp that cgnetworks links you too..

you just take the file and drag it from the left to right pane right? I do that.. it uploads.. makes a noise.. is something suppoused to show up in the right window pane? becaues ive tried like 5 times and nothing shows up and i keep getting
the god damn error uploading image message on the sumbit final image page.
