CGTalk - Where to start?

Ive been doin simple animation for a year or so, but im about to start a really big piece of work.

I was wonderin if u guys out there could give me advice where to start...like :

should i use pose to pose - if so hows the best way to do this?
to IK or to FK - also an issue??!

etc,etc....

It all depends of the animation you have to do, and the objects/characters you want to animate. Start with simple animations to validate some techniques, then you will know what you prefer/what is the best/what is time feasible.
