Well, I finally got it.

As the story goes...well...it coincides more with my life than anything
else.

I'm a computer technician as my side job (read: artist at heart, but I
gotta pay the bills :)). I'm obsessed with technology. As I sat throwing
out concepts, I got wrapped into this machine. Beautiful days go by, and
I sit on my computer.

What happens when we enslave ourselves in our deperate need to master
these machines?

Most importantly, I tried to emphasize the darkness; I utilized the
contrasting light sources to create a more subtle master/slave
relationship. I generally don't like writing stories about my pieces
because, well, you either feel it in the art or its just a pretty
picture. I much prefer to hear how others interpret it. In this case, I
feel obligated.

Thank you to everyone who has show their support. I have failed to enter
the CG Challenges once before, and have only once ever successfully
entered a contest. Wether or not I take anything, it feels good to have
tried, and the attempt has only been bolstered by the encouragement of
others.

I monitored...and began (never finished)...the machineflesh challenge. I'm new to the forums, and look forward to getting back into doing artwork regularly.

Boy I'd love to have one of those Cintiqs, but it looks like I'll have a hell of a time ranking on this one. Good luck to all!

Hello everyone--

I'm giving it a shot. My contributions to the glorious world of digital art have been lax of late; I'm looking forward to giving it another go. Though I'd love to get my hands on one of those Cintiqs, but from what I've seen it looks like I'll be hard pressed to even make the top ten! Good luck to all, and I'm happy to be a member of the forums!

Guess I'm throwin Apple computer a bone with this one (I don't hate them, but I'm a PC guy...) with the whole all-in-one computer unit. Oh well, trying to be more "futurisitc".

Line art is almost set....for anyone who cares (most everyone is probably busy finalizing those little detail before final submission) I'm really-really-really gonna try and get this in. I dropped out of the MachineFlesh challenge, and was too busy to even notice Grand Space Opera, but DAMMIT I'm gonna do this one! Line art coming soon!

Hurry up dude, bring out the coffee mug

Been slammin' em back since last night! I've downgraded to Pepsi for now.

great concept, i hope you can finish before the end

I hope so too!

Thank you both for responding...I feel I not only need a lot of determination, but a wide base of support to make this deadline; I've "tried" to enter numerous contests over the past...oh...6-7 years. The only one I ever completed was a post-apocalyptic theme-contest-thingy on the old GFXartist.com (http://www.gfxartist.com)....and that didn't even get honorable mention.

For now, though, I have to take a quick 8 hours break from artwork to...well...work. ;)

This will make more sense w/ the next post...but I think I want to expand the amount of cables/lights/rackspace on this.

The overall image is coming together (just focusing on lines right now!). I don't know, I'm just...I dunno, "in the zone" I guess. Still not @ "final image", but I still have over 24 hours!

"Mad props" to any of the AAN crew who are stopping by! :D

Lookin' good man... I have absolutely nothing to say until the final, because I'm only good at the old-fashioned way (you know, paper, pencils, charcoal....that sort of thing.)

Good luck, mang.

2 down, 3 to go! and I still have...Pssh, a whole 22 hours to go...easy! (read: sarcasm)

Any hi-speed criticism that could be offered would be most welcome...I'm pounding away on this thing high-speed.

Looks excellent so far chief, almost reminds me of my old job where we didnt have cubes ;) Only criticism I have to offer is that perhaps the foot in the foreground is a little too large? Other than that I can only tell you that you are doing a great job :)

I'm onto the color! This is just "hammering out" but I think the color scheme and background will work out nicely!

King, I'm gonna take your suggestion, and the foot is going to be shrunk a little (and the other will be enlarged when I add a shoe!)

There's just not enough life in me. However, considering how much I got done tonight, I consider this a good place to momentarily stop. It almost looks like I'll actually make the submission! Thank you everyone for your support and criticism (in a good way!) thus far.

I\'m in the home stretch. I\'m crunchin\' it, but by god I think I can get this thing ready to rock by deadline!

Gotta finish the feet and adjust the color on the pants. Add some junk. Touch things up...and then add the Master/Slave aspect!!
