I started coloring ;)

I'm not gonna color the whole thing with the base colors. I'm just going straightforward into coloring.

This is not much, but I felt like sumbitting the first bits of the coloring. So here it is! ;)

NOOB!

Ok. I've tried like 10 concept drawings when I heard about the contest.
Actually, this *is* the 10th composition I came up with...
I believe that this one is the strongest amongst them...

This is about humans being the servant of "law" and how we bow before it.
The man's eyes are tied, symbolizing the saying "the law is blindfolded". And he is chained and a heavy weight is put at the end of the chain. The weight stands on one side of the "scales", which is another symbol used for "law".

Well, that's it for the time being... Please feel free to ask or leave comments/critics!

Cheers!

Hi nice to see a different concept being used....I'm just wondering what would be on the other side of the scale??......hhhmmmm just letting my brain loose but maybe u can embelish a lil more with it.....(we make the law soooo we are really servants to our own) could fill in the other side of the scale.........i dunno im just brainstorming ...you could ignore me completely Good Luck!

I like the idea but maybe it needs a little more. What lies upon the other side of the scale? I can see potential for you to go a great many directions with this. Typically justice is portayed holding the scales, while being blindfolded, so this is an interesting play on that. I look forward to watching this develop!

Good concept, and good sketch for the beginning. i believe that having more elements indicating the "master" will enhance this composition.. :) good luck and kolay gelsin :P

Ok. Some people commented that I add more... So I did this sketch.
She *is* the Law, holding the scales with the book of Law on one side and a human blindfolded and chained on the other side.

This is a very basic (actually crappy) sketch. I'll re-draw this on paper, cuz I'm not that great with sketching digitally :P

Sketch done in Photoshop 8.

Its very original if we consider the all contestants here. Being original is one of the keys here in the challenge I think.

Thumbs up.

stilize etmek derken neyi kast ettin, tam anlayamadim?

glad you like it! :) this is a very bad drawing though, it should look better when i draw it on paper.. there's nothing like the traditional media!! ;D

Don't worry about the quality of a sketch, they are just to get ideas down and out of your head anyway. Keep working it through, I think this will be a great image.

I've decided to change my composition all over!!

About the first concept, I've experienced before that if you play around with the same material and try to enhance it, it'll only become like a gum, chewed so many times...

So I came up with this new sketch; which I believe is more colorful, in means of things going on in both the background and the foreground. This one has a better sense of bg, and since there are more stuff around, it should be fun coloring this ;)

Yeah I'm going for a tough one, but even if it doesnt get any qualification in the contest, I still have a sketch that is more fun to work on!

Your new concept is really close to the snake dancers... I think the justice concept is more original and a bit more interesting...

i feel that the justice concept is pretty empty in means of composition. also there isnt much to work on. its just three color composition: the human, the justice woman and the background.
i felt that there wasnt much challenge there...

yeah she looks like a snake dancer i know, but hey, i'm from a culture that is used to bellydancers  anyways, thanks for the honest comment, i really appreciate it! :bounce:

After 2nd evaluation the image could be really great if the background was draped in rich fabric, textures and extremely opulent... I could see it going one of two ways, showing the dancing as an art and therefore positive, clean almost oversatured... The other direction the exact opposite, like a thin layer of filth covers everything... Could be alot of fun, I am looking forward to your next update.

I changed some bits. She doesnt have shoes anymore and the facial expression of the men have changed.

this is on "line art" milestone, cuz I've outlined some stuff and this is just the first bit of the line art anyways... more to come!

Also, this wont have any lines visible in the final piece, so I'm not really gonna bother with outlining very thing there. Just gonna do the line art of the changes...
