View Full Version : too bright render.
grillbritt 03-27-2005, 06:42 PM i have a scene with a direct. light... final gather with secondary diffuse bounces activated, and no photons emmited. the scene render nice.
but then I turn on photons from the light. and enable caustics in the render globals..
when I then render the scene is extremely bright.. all is white..
please help me!

if you attached a physical_light to your light then copy it's V color to the photon intensity on your light to get physical correct intensity. else just lower the photon intensity until you're satisfied.
another way would be lowering the caustic scale in render globals.

I lowered the caustics scale and the photon intensity but I had to crank it down all to the bottom... so there are no caustics anyway!
maybe it's the directional lights intensity? I have connected mib_cie_d to the lights color.
disable FG and leave only caustics to see how bright are they...
if they look good it's probably something with the multibounce settings such as the FG Refl. Depth or FG Refr. Depth, or maybe try to increase the shadow trace depth on your directional light and in RG.
edit:
maybe you should add a diff. type of light with intensity 0 and with caustics intensity to a higher value so that ligh it's only a caustic-photon emitter. I remember that the directional-lights were problematic with photons... so add a spot light... maybe would work...
if not, maybe dagon1978 could help you... he did some tests with both caustics+multibounce
