My concept involves a Gnome who is returning home, on the way he has to pass through the jungle of mushrooms, all he has for company is his servant the snail he is carrying a lamp to guide his path.

This is the subsurface wireframe render...of the Gnome, ofcourse it will have a hat as shown in the concept sketch

Here's a fast render to check how it works.., It will have beard and mushes..
Criticise as much as possible, this is my first challenge and I want to do it the best...

looks very good so far, but i think the ears are a bit to much at the front, or maybe that's what you want? and for the beard, i dunno how you want to make the hair but there's a really nice and easy plugin called ornatrix , http://ibmr.net/Ornatrix/
good luck:)

Here is a test rendering of the gnome with beard...Need some more tweaking ofcourse.

Thank's Jelmer, I will be using nurbs interpolator to make hair and beard..Yeah I noticed that the ear was a bit too much in the front I have corrected that...Thank's for your crits.

Here I have started modelling the snail(servant) who is weary and is looking on to the hurdle which has to cross with his master riding on his back, the scene will be a jungle of mushrooms...Although I have chosen a fun medium for master and servant theme, but there is a message I would like to convey, let me see if any one can see that.

Hey dude... good work so far... my biggest crit would be that the beard looks really woollen and patchey.. as in real life you wouldn't be able to see thrpugh it... You know what i mean

Hi rajeevn, I like your idea so far:thumbsup:
the texture on the mushroom looks a bit grainy at the moment.
Keep it up!

Thank's DaddyMack I will try to reduce that grainy look, thanks a bunch and it was helpful

I love your idea. In your place i'll add more détails on the floor; grass, acorn, leaf, stone, moss.... I'll add other mushroom, more tiny. I will make the scene take place the night and light up by firefly (free or in a small cage...). I'll make the mushroom not so regular....and more color.

Good luck!

Thank you Ke V2 I really am going to do those steps, like variations in the mushrooms lots of different kinds of mushrooms, with grass at the roots of the mushrooms, and of course in my concept sketch i have told that it is in the night and lighting will be very close from the lamp and from the moon,

Hey dude, i love the concept, but you might want to PM a mod about your Gnome character to see if he is in line with the brief, as they are being really strickt on the human element... (i needed to clip my faries wings, due to this fact)

in swedish mytologi a vätt is almost a gnome, and it helps out in the house hold(barn) all year around if you are nice to it on christmas, so what you can do is to ad a human shoe in the backround and call the human (master), a vätt is small, so no problem whith sieze.
see you and good luck.
