With fall-off, the skin has gained more life I think..Because translucency of real skin is tried to be given...Waiting for your comments...

First salute all!!!
This very first drawing on paper is prepared for the evil side of the master and servant relationship!!! Though the servant represents the action similar to a slave, he or she or it becomes servant being a volunteer. You have to persuade a person or a demon to volunteer to serve you, if you want to be a master, otherwise you become a lord, moreover a tyrant not a master!!! Master and servant relationship isn't always evil as the lord or tyrant and slave relationship I think, but what if master and servant are at the evil side:
"Mazzakrator" a destroying salamander is summoned from the depths of hell by a black magician known as "The Tenant" who rents the bodies of others in order to survive for an immortal life...But he never pays the price to the real owners of the bodies. Instead, the souls the real owners are always to be sent to depths of hell to exchange with demons...Maybe you think I had read all the books of Lovecrat and Poe, hmm... Yes you are right..he hehe!!! What a Goth illustration!!!

Now, Here is how I made and am going on making the master's head...An evil wizard who may be hundred years old but having a bright new body has just rented from a soul !!! So he has to have an fresh looking. This is an important point while I am modeling his head...But a young man or a woman, Caucasian or African or Asian, not clearly defined in my thoughts yet...

I thought attending to 2D challenge at first with the same drawings, because of being very very less experienced in 3d than being experienced in 2d...Those will be all my first models and materials in 3d.. Thanks for letting me take the risk and challange in 3d waiting for your feedbacks!!!

Hey Korhan,
This is on the dark side compared to mine, I like the sketches you have done . The model looks okay too, but I think the distance from the eyes to the bottom of the nose is to big, unless that is what you are after. Good luck with this.

Thanks for your warning!!! The facial proportions changes according to where the people come from...Yeah I am aware of the lenght of the nose, but at same time I think what if "The Tenant" is a Persian wizard or an Aztec wizard?

Here's the final evolution I did tonight...Ears are added!!! Ouch this is the first time that I modelled an ear, it's hard man when it is in 3d...Some proportional adjustments made...Some meshes are added to enrich the expression: melancholical uttering anger!!!

When and where the master lived is determined now...(But of course there is still a probability that he is still alive he he he...) At the ancient Mu continent, 10 thousand years ago when Mu and Atlantis were the only super forces in the world!!!

the sketch you did was really nice, i dont think that model you built is doing the sketches justice, build a low poly model and then increase the numbers. your sketch is similar to the kind of look im after for my finished piece.

are you entering the 2d comp too?

Orion77, the 3d model and the scene can be developed through several ways, starting from low polygon to high on computer or working just on the paper till it is decided what the scene exactly is and what the models will exactly look like... The ways can vary as 2D scaning the drawn facades or 3d scaning of an actor or a clay model etc. etc. But to me working on the paper at first then passing to the computer is the best way because I can feel it better on paper especially while lusting for a new idea for the initial processes of a project...

And for your askin' how about the 2d competition, yes you are right I should have also entered to 2d competition since I am more experienced in 2d, but I don't have enough time for both...And for 3d, I think this will be a great opportunity for me to develop myself at 3d...

Face of the MAzzakrator won't be seen, so I don't think to model it...However I am thinking about the backround for it, yet... The scene is set in a room with mirrors maybe. So the face must be modelled, mustn't it?

That is ONE intresting character with ALOT of challanging features.

I really wonder how you are going to get through the anatomical convincingnes for the extra set of arms and the creative mouth structor.

Actually one way that you could get away with absurd anatomy would paossibly be like in 'Final Fantasy-The Spirits within'.
Such as to have the Mazzakrator actually demi transparent.. like as if you are looking at him through an elektro microscope or something.
Such a shader/Material network can actually grant you the chance to have him a bit more mystical and also you would give us a chance to see the other side of his face without the need of mirrors.

You never know.. after you model your character and place him.. you may find another pose that would actually fit in the story alot better.

Neither Red demon nor bluish red demon...Here it's the Mazzakrator semi materialized...It seems not concrete enough to practise the given orders, but its "Scythepter" is concrete enough to cut flesh and crush bone, as it's seen from the blood wet mighty weapon hold by two of its four hands!!! Besides that little Mazzie can be seen only at nights by its phosphorus-like glowing. Under daylight, Mazzie is unfortunately totally invisible.

Mazzakrator's one and only weak fatal point is inside of its throat...It can be killed by only stabbing Scyhtepter in its mouth deeply, so when it is over with Mazzakrator, Tenant orders it to do it itself so that it returns back to hell and stay there till Tenant summons for another evil mission...

Thanks for your good words guys, it is really a good motivating for me to keep on growing the project up tıo the final...
And thanks to BlackDidthis for your idea...Yeah it is a very good idea that Mazzakrator can be semi transparent, semi materialized. But it is very hard to show its face from back...Mirrors are cool!!!

And thanks to Sigmund Freud for his works on id-ego-alter ego and sexual symbols...Skeleton of the concept here is from psychoanalysis!!!

Well actually you don't have to really model him from the back side.. just model him out... the shader/material will make it seen from the backside.

But if you are trying to say that it would be hard for us as viewers to make out... hmm well you may have apoint there.


Not gonna be ab easy model to go for.
You may want to chek out on India and it's religious relics/artworks... they have spent thousands of years trying to depict how more than two arms can be attached to a humanoid figure. I know you are going ore for a 'mortal combat' type character.. but stilll some ref won't hurt :) And if nothing it can give you a better idea on where they went wrong on some versions, or could have done things diffrently.

Yes, this is what I exactly mean...But now I am thinking synthesizing the two ideas, I mean two of them will be rendered, the transparent one and the concrete one. The energy body squirting from the main body shall turn to the viewers showing its face!!!

Haven't I given any references, already? The Mu continent saga I refenced is far more deeper than India or whatever else...And you have given a movie name, and I am giving you another movie name which really inspired me for drawing a six limbed demon: "Forbidden Planet" greatest sci-fi of 50's ...By suggesting what about a transparent monster, you give me the idea sharpening the concept towards that great movie...The invisible six limbed demon was treated very very later in also one of adventures of "Martin Mystere" comic book...This time, creature is an alien from a fallen UFO, in the form of a gorilla having six limbs and invisible of course because of made up of very very highly vibrating atoms...

that monster is looking cool, how are you gonna texture it?

id like to see him as a stone based monster who is the servant of the wizard but has become tired of the servant role and ran off in search of life. make him look moldy and greyish to reflect his boredom at being a servant.

or

make him a monster/human creature who is morphing into a human as he develops human qualities, add areas of growing skin etc.

Yeah, H.P. Lovecraft is always a good referance. Just be careful what demons you summon up they may not go back quietly. Great start look forward to seeing more.

i think head shape is good but horns seems to be very long. it seems like an insect antenna. may be keeping it small and bending towards eachother can give him a little bit devil-thing

I will make the horns asymetric in my final step, as they are seen from my sketches...Shortening them may be better and oh yes the bending angles...

Yeah Neeno, you are right...ekarademir is also...( Sen de haklısın o da haklı Nasreddin Hodja fıkrası gibi oldu:D)...Mazzakrator has 4 horns; 2 long and 2 short...short ones will be just the same as ekarademir says to me...I had drawn the 4 horns at the first sketch, observe the head very carefully, extra mini horn as a tiny projection can be seen, in fact it is bigger but it remains mostly the other not seen side...And of course in the model there will be 4 horns...

i didn't think from that aspect. maybe asymetric horns will look good. also they might be some extra details that you are going to handle in final steps.

Just the beginning of the texturing process...But I have to model the bluthirstongue part of the head first rather than going on texturing...And then I have to return to model wizard Tenant, the master...The eye is very bad because I haven't put any textures on it yet...I think the eye must be the next turn before the master!!!

J++ Dragon!

Very well developed concept, man, and the models are developing nicely. I like the image with the yellow human face. His head is turned up in a good dramatic way, and it allows the eyebrows to help with the expression. In that actor he reminds me of the actor Benicio Del Toro, from the movie Traffic (I can't remember another movie he was in.)

What will the creature's other arms be doing?

I've never read your language before, what language is it similar to?

A small update for new addition to Mazzakrator's head...And some bad news: as I accidentally unfortunately collapsed the patch to mesh, I have lost the UVW wrapping the monster...But not a problem, only a loss of an hour...Enjoy the bluthirstongue, loft-ly modified...

pixelkeg: Hey, Benicio Del Toro is one of my fav. artists...He played also in "The Hunted", "21 Grams", "Snatch" which to me are at least great as "Traffic"...Agony and cruelty of a possessed guy can be performed best by him...Watched "The Hunted" and "21 Grams" I come to this idea...Thanks for such a nice approach including great actor to my character:)And for your questions: With the other 2 arms , I will decide it later after rigging Mazzakrator...Some posing work is necessary for it...
And about the language, I suppose about my motherlanguage ,you asked ...It is a mid asian language, pal...It resembles to Japanese more than English, I guess:)

At last I could give a response to my muses' stimulations...And here's the result:
Uh!What? Is Tenant the Master a woman?
Hmm well, it wasn't obvious in my sketches, because of the thick robe, maybe...Yeah, in fact Tenant the Master is male but he doesn't refuse to take female bodies, especially in the times when he is deeply wanted dead or alive...Nowadays, I mean, he is in great trouble with some sirens, some jealous nymphs... he had to change his sex in order not to be recognized by his ancient enemies...

Well, a close up to some characteristics of the Master...A tall Egyptian-like woman, I have tried to model so that she must seem strong at both psychical and physical powers...Hey say it resembles to "Grace Jones" a bit!!! Yeah!!!

What a powerful character! Some tricks are needed around the neck...but no other too serious things. Just small tweakings. About references you could try www.3d.sk (http://www.3d.sk)

hey there man.. looking good and kewl progress is wonderful .. dude just watch out for those wierd vertices under the neck.. looks outta place.. i guess when you finish the model i can crit more.. cant really say anything now as it is in progress.. but your flying right through !!

This isn't exactly a comment.. but a something that sort of sticks out;

When we were watching this silly comedy with my wife, that had a guy dressed up as a woman, she had said "Thats the funny part about guys putting oranges to imitate breasts... They always have them too high up".
She had a point! Since then I noticed that many of the unsuccessful cross-dresses would have the breasts at the hight of a males nipples.

Your's is naturally not the case. But the breasts seem to be evolved a bit high, though infact the figure would suggest us to expect more what hanging ones.

The reason I had you read through the story with my wife is, that it was a simple little story that really helped me alot with my breasts that day on. Well not really my own.. more what my model's. Oh boy.. am I making a mess.

Well in any case, your thread is going very well. In normal circumstances I would actually comment on the dropped mandibula and her squared features. But they look too much like your first sketch, and I presume that it was what you were going for.

I'll just sit back and enjoy the show you are putting here. Things are evolving very well!

Thanks for your good words and the suggestion about the place of the breasts...Well, in the mid of modeling progress, I saw that breasts are a little high indeed...But I didn't need make a change because the position of the arms will be V-shape in a manner of saying "Rise Mazzakrator, rise!!!" as in the sketch posted...Breasts position changes to a bit upward...I modelled the body totally by edge extrusion and for the breasts I used paint tool of edit poly...And I scaled for the correct proportions of the image in my mind...Maybe I have to use a reference drawing for the correct proportions...

I first tried with a bitmap for the skin, but I saw I can create the same pattern with only mix, smoke, noise and shellac procedural maps...

Here's the skin material created by me...Adjusting the parameters took quite much time; 2 hrs...I think fall/off is necessary for more reality...

Korhan, your texture looks fantastic to be done with a procedural! The tone and even her underglow matches your character.

One thing is the way it is a bit uniform.. no irreularities.
Though I am not sure how much it would be worth the trouble since she is going to be having her robe on her.

Once again; compliments on the textures!

With fall-off, the skin has gained more life I think..Because translucency of real skin is tried to be given...Waiting for your comments...

You should probably reverse the bump map on that skin shader and scale down whatever procedural it uses. Right now it looks kinda' like a skin condition.
