View Full Version : Propaganda
larocket83 03-26-2005, 05:07 AM I'm working on a WWII era scene with propaganda posters, etc. Right now its too clean, and the wrong poster. I've got dozens here to choose from, I'll end up using a more controversial one later I'm sure. A lot of work needs to be done, I know. Textures, etc. But I just thought I'd post early work to get my idea out there.

In the sense of dirt, something you might want to look at is utilizing the photoshop mask channel to age some of your color and diffusion maps. You can do this from your own library, but remember, the black will be the "wear"
You can also look at investing in something like these, which we use on a regular basis to do 2d work for print/web that simulates vintage:

Machine Wash Filters
Cameron Moll also wrote a series of articles on how to age stuff in 2d that might be helpful:

Nice concept. I love propaganda posters - in fact, my Grand Space Opera entry (which I never finished :/) was a communist-style propaganda poster.
Regarding your scene, the brick wall looks the best, although it does need quite a bit more dirt and grime on it, IMO. The other objects appear to be modeled well, but the textures could be better.
I'd like to see how this turns out.
