I guess this will be my last post in this competition. It is now painfully obvious that will not be able to finish in time. Like Murphy's laws say, anything that can go wrong will go wrong. I first caught a computer virus which set me back a lot and than, poor planning and a major underestimation of the learning curve for Character Studio did me in. I am sad, but I enjoyed the challenge and learned a lot, which was the main reason in participating anyway. I'm already looking forward to the next challenge and hope I will be able to participate fully and, of course, fair better. Thanks to all of you who have left comments. Good luck, and remember, you are all great.

I'm using the theme as a metaphore for the relationship between the prima ballerina and her craft and the relationship between her and the ballet mistress.

I'm new to treads. Being introverted, I tend to stay reserved and quiet but I'll do my best to come out of my shell. I've entered the contest so I could practice skill I haven't used for a long time. I am starting with a handicap since I've recently upgraded from 3DS Max 4 to 3DS Max 7 and Iím still lost in it. I do hope my final image will convey all the emotion I'm trying to communicate. I am going for a very atmospheric rehearsal hall.

I'm French-Canadian so please excused my English. Thanks

I have started to create the ballerina using the box modeling technique.

The ruff modeling of the body is going quite fast. I will however have to spend quite some time pulling vertices before it is acceptable.

I am going for a slightly exaggerated look. Not quite cartoony, but not photo realist either. I haven't decided on the look of the head and face yet. I want to do something in the same line has the body, but without falling in the trap of making it Manga like. I want to do something we might see in Nature event if it is unlikely :)

I have started on the ballerina's head. Not quite there yet.

I have finished the head and assembled it on the body. I still need to model the eyes and the cloth.

Wow! I am way behind compare to the other participants. I know that character modeling is my weakest point. I hope I will be able to gain some terrain when the time come to light and texture the scene. :)

Here is the ballerina's costume so far. I won't play with it anymore until I have modeled the ballet-mistress.
