Master and Servant 2D Entry: kpax

Being that primarily I have used photoshop, but have recently had a liking for ZBrush 2, I wanted to know if I had to design some rendered elements in ZBrush for a photoshop painting, what category does this fall under? Is it 2d or 3d?
