rmongey 03-25-2005, 10:23 AM Ray Mongey has entered the Master and Servant 3D.
Challenge Page (http://www.cgnetworks.com/challenge/masterandservant/view_entries.php?challenger=6553)
Latest Update: Modeling: Madness - Hands
http://www.cgnetworks.com/challenge/entries/9/6553/6553_1112300879_medium.jpg (http://www.cgnetworks.com/challenge/entries/9/6553/6553_1112300879_large.jpg)
Here's a few grabs demonstrating how the hands were constructed, basically a finger was made, cloned (positioned+scaled), a box was created and each finger attached.
Still needs allota tweaking, I'm not too happy with them so far....

The main thing I noticed about this challenge was the word imagination; I’ve interpreted this in an odd way I suppose and under the subject Madness the “voices” or other people in the characters head are the Masters, were poor him, he’s the Servant.
This is just a quick sketch to show the idea, angles etc may change, the heads are going to be difficult to model I think. The faces should look realistic, but I plan to stretch and warp them. There’s an inset of the main characters warped face.
Any feed backs good.
+ this is my first time to enter the CGNetworks Challenge!

Here’s a roughed out model of the main characters head, I’ll either play with it a good bit more or model it from scratch. (Not that happy with the way it’s looking) Thought I should post something up anyway, comments / suggestions welcome, especially at this early stage. This head was modelled in 3 hours or so, so it’s not perfect!

How’s everyone? I’m just updating from the last head model, wasn’t too happy with it, so here’s a new one.
This time using a mirror in front of my face, nothing better than live reference! Also I began modelling from separate planes rather than my usual box or spline modelling.
I want to fix up around the mouth and complete the back of the head also. Basically play with the model tweaking it until I’m happy before I go near texturing.
Feel free to comment etc.

Adding detail begins, loads more tweaks to do....

Hey, looking pretty good. Cool idea:) Just one thing though, the faces look slightly lumpy, in some places it looks like there might be some bumps that dont belong. I'd bet it would have been fun to make a face like that in the mirror while modeling:scream:

Synthesizer - Cheers for the comments, I'll sort out the lumps before texturing. Making that face makes your face sore.
I'm moving to Canada in mid May, Any 3D jobs going?

Another quick render. The ears are almost complete and I'll be begining on the details of the neck next.
I'm really enjoying doing this model. :)

Am I posting too much?
Anyway, heres the starting of the torso, the reference from www.fineart.sk is fantastic. Allot more detail needs to be added for muscle etc...
Any comments / suggestion welcome!
I take that it reminds you of gollum as a great compliment for the modelling side, but because it's based on my face not so much a compliment!

More detail added...
This is probably my first 3D muscle study, I'm quite pleased with it so far.
As usual comments/suggestions welcome!

Hey, that's looking alot better:thumbsup: Hmm, there are some jobs, but not where I live. Mostly in the big cities like Vancouver, Toronto and Montreal. I think I'll have to move somewhere once I'm done school for sure. Where in Canada are you moving to?

Flying into Montreal firstly, hope to head down to Vancouver after. I know what you mean, in Ireland there's not much work for the 3D Artist/Animator.
Thanks for all the thumbs up!
