I've been using maya for about 3 years now and have done some decent stuff with it. I'm interested in learning mel and C++. Specifically, how to write shaders. I've heard that mental ray shaders are wrote in C++ and I was wondering if there is any documentation on that specifically. Or if there was any good documentation in general to eventually steer me in that direction. I've bought the Complete Maya Programming book, which is teaching me quite a bit in general, but is there anything else more specific I could learn from in the area of C++ and how it relates to the aforementioned shader topic? I feel as if I am at the base of another mountain. Any sherpa's would be great.
