this is my first time to participate CG Challenge. two ideas for Master and Servant that i am interested are, first, this picture here inspired me in term of adventure and creature in imaginational world. this picture was designed by Lucas Film - StarWars

second, i would like to present the transition of traditional thai aesthetic which is shown in this picture. the design of character demonstrates thai costume and myth. right now i am working on the design of creature and story.

Nice work so far! The latest sketches with the woman are beautiful. Of the two layouts, I think I prefer the top right one a little more: The bottom one (though both, to some extent) read as "Master and Pet" more than "Master and Servant." Perhaps pushing the intelligence of the creature somehow could help some... But I know you're still working on the creature, so I probably shouldn't comment. Anyhow, best of luck with it. I can't wait to see more!

Really love your strokes, though...it's quick and clean and clearly description....

Just only one thing that annoying is about the face and costume that look so familiar to the "Suriyothai" a Thai Film since few years ago? Why don't you try to put more adaptation on it and make it more better but still be Thai, may be it would another nicer way...

BTW, your story and overview is interesting...really :)

it is my new concept sketching.

the ideas came from Thai literature "Naree Phol" which is a fruit but the shape looks like a woman. the story is about when someone have seen her once, they are attracted and appeal. so, i will show more reference and image later.

But i have some suggestion about the story of Naree-Poll, was it about being fruitful by 30 feet height above the ground, aren't they? and also only grow in Himalaya Mount / Himawana Wood, right? May be, if you change a little bit detail by following fact such as the soldier turn to be a kind of hermit or something super-natural...then it would be nicer...

BTW, it's just only a suggestion and actually your work is good and great on its own...

I like your skecth design a lot, it's a really good idea to combine thai arts in your design.
I love the way that you are not take all the thai treaditional style itself but seem you develop it to your ownstyle which is very success job.
However there is some comment, I think the first one "Naree phon" there is a bit unclear that which one is the Master and the Servant. the suggestion is maybe you can try to emphasis the feeling of the charactor a bit more that might me a great thing to do.

Thank you very much for all comments. for this pic I come up with another idea for composition and fix my character' proportion. Actually I plan to finish my sketch this week ,and next week I start coloring :)

I have just updated my design on this entry; my new design titled “Naree Phol” is a representation of traditional Thai mythology. My original intention was to preserve the mythological values as much as possible, but to keep up with the theme of this entry I had to change it quite a bit to portray Master & Servant. I have modified the design and also changed certain historical values, but I have still kept the mythology alive in the design. My concept here is that the man was an evil character, now though with the divine intervention of Goddess Naree Phol he has turned not only into an honest person but also he serves as her protector.

this is my final composition. I decided to take another character in the background off, left only two characters.

Really nice colours - I like the turquoise peeking through. The concentration of brushstrokes around the face really emphasises the features too. There's a nice feeling of serenity.

aye! the hair is very good me thinks... not sure about that shoulder though, makes her look waaay too muscley. and there seems to be too mmuch shadow below her breasts, considering how small they are. To me there is something wrong about her chest area, but you may be using references and it might be spot on...just my 1 cent. (i lost the other one.).

beautiful painting so far. I love your choice of colours in the latest version, very soft and dream like. The loose brushwork works nicely with the mystical nature of the charcter. I also like the low contrast at this point (I'm not sure how much more you're going to work on her). It's a little flat without and dark areas or highlights, but I think that ties into the whole storybook theme of your piece. Keep up the great work. Alexi

Beautiful painting, I've never seen such thick, gorgeous texture in a digital painting! Her face is very pretty, very fae-like. The whole concept it lovely, along with a very unusual colour pallette, it makes for a great painting. He anatomy still seems a little off... two things that immediately jump out are the nipple on her furthest breast seem to be pointing towards us (it was much better in the earlier colour concept) and the distance from her waist to the end of her backside seems rather long, compared to other distances on her body. But other than that, I like it. I kinda like the more muscular shoulder, it doesn't look too much out of place, even though she's quite delicate, and its not what you would expect.

Great job, keep at it, I'm sure it will look amazing when it's finished.

the new colour works fine, but i think te shadow on the prev painting was better on the figures. she is more pear shaped in this one, look at her slender neck and large backside! i would balance that out.

i personally preferred the servant in post No. 37 as well. the younger looking servant fit the scene alot better, i think.

today I play around adjustment the color. I'm not sure. Something wrong with my screen when I look at the pic on my screen , it looks Ok but when I look at it on other screen, it looks strange.
It probably because you have a different ICC monitor profile than your friend's monitor. When saving out images that are going to the Web, it's best to save it in an sRGB profile.

maybe u have the same problem like i do, my gamma on monitor is too dark, and i cant fix it, so i ll have to buy a new one.. anyway dont worry aboutit, there is nothing that levels/ brightness/contrast/hue/saturation on photoshop cant fix. it looks great!:thumbsup: keep it up!

Nice, the forest and birds look amazing. What colors are you seeing on your monitor?

Currently, I see a rather light palatte, and her hair, the forest, the birds (etc) are blue-green. I actually prefer the colors of the update on May 1st (the one with the black frame), as it had a bit of yellow in it, and didn't feel so.. cold. Right now, I feel there's too much blue mixed in the green.

I love your work, great concept and design! I would just say you might consider pushing the colors a bit more, right now its predominantly green, using other colors would help make it more balanced. And the pose of the female figure could be pushed a little bit more, a stronger curve could make her more appealing.

Overall, great hair design, the birds are cool, composition is great! Keep up the good work!

this is my final image.
My concept.
titled “Naree Phol” is a representation of traditional Thai mythology. My original intention was to preserve the mythological values as much as possible, but to keep up with the theme of this entry I had to change it quite a bit to portray Master & Servant. I have modified the design and also changed certain historical values, but I have still kept the mythology alive in the design. My concept here is that the man was an evil character, now though with the divine intervention of Goddess Naree Phol he has turned not only into an honest person but also he serves as her protector.


This is my first time to participate CG Challenge. It have been fun. Next challenge I will join again for sure
