View Full Version : Mary Rose Model
Daveaustin 02-13-2002, 04:37 AM I posted a similar message in one of the other sections, but don't seem to have had much luck at all...
this is my first major modelling project in Xsi, as i've only just begun to learn the software :)
Here are a couple of renders done with Final Gathering, any comments would go down a treat...

This is a work in progress

how are you liking XSI so far? how does it compare to Maya?

Not bad. I would actually say it's pretty neat. I'll bet it will look killer with all the ropes and sails hanging off of it. I hope we can see it farther along. I don't really see any problems with it now.

thanks,
honestly i've never properly used Maya, i've always been a softimage 3D bloke..I much prefer the modelling in Xsi, although can't wait to get v2!!
i've actually been doing this for a uni final year project, and i'm kinda running out of time with it, but i'm intending to fully texture it and create all the rigging and sails.. It was supposed to be a photorealistic model, but so far i'm slightly behind with that :)
I've just put up a wireframe screenshot of the ship for all to enjoy :)
cheers for the replies

Cheers everyone
...At the moment i'm trying to find a way to create the rigging, but not having much luck at all,
has anyone got any ideas on how to create simple effective rigging in Xsi, because i haven't found a way to do renderable splines as seen in...
Ship - rigging (http://www.3dluvr.com/content/artz/feature/feature23_4.php)
i don't really want to resort to drawing paths and extruding circles along them.
