Electronic Arts, Redwood Shores is currently looking for a Character Binder for a project-based hire.
This position will last about 6 months in length.

The Character Binder
In this position it is necessary to understand the essentials of geometry deformation with a keen eye for detail in regards to anatomy and physical aesthetics.

Requirements:
Ability to bind low-polygon (5-10K) characters in a timely fashion and be able to recognize the pitfalls of poorly constructed geometry including:

bad topology
bad UV layouts
unnecessary hard edges
correct normal directions

with the ability to offer constructive feedback to the modeling staff in such occurrences.

Familiarity with basic animation pipelines. Know how to store and transfer weight values under various circumstances. Know how to transfer animation (useful for testing) and able to paint weights using a spreadsheet approach.

Hold an art/animation background, and be able to demonstrate a strong interest in body aesthetics with basic 3D animation knowledge.

Motivation to learn more about the technical aspects and art of character rigging.
