Latest Update: Final Image: Mourning Palace

The story:

There was once a mighty god. He knew all about everything, he was allmighty among gods. He wandered trhough the universe for one thing though: to put an end to his lonelyness. The lonelyness started to consume him. He wanted someone to share his knowledge and love with. But he found no one. What could he do? Well, he created someone for him. He created humans, loving yet deceptive and greedy creatures. He created them and hosted them on his own body.

All went fine from that day forth. The humans made entire civilisations who had faith in their god. The god was not lonely anymore and gained power from people's faith.

But one day, the worst thing happened: a human started to lose faith in the god. He started to be attracted by material tentations. Along with him, more people started to lose faith. The god was losing power. After a while, the god had only a few believers among bilions of unbelievers. The god becamed legend. Legend becamed myth. And so, the god was forgotten. There was no hope of restoring faith. He started to fall. And he fellt until he started to fall appart and to transform into stone. Life was being drained from him. Now he is only a statue mourning from pain. There's no one to hear him. He's falling appart with all the humans, the once loyal servants he created. He was put down by the ones he created with love.

In this picture it is represented the once mighty god who is falling appart. He is fading into mountains. Sad colors...

Aniway, hope that someone will like this, it's been fun doing it. Cheers.

First sketch. Very rough and quick made. The shading on the room is completely unnatural, I know, but I realized that. In this scene, a man just killed his beloved, by the order of his master (the devil), and now he\\\'s very sorry about that, so the master takes care of him and congratuates him for a job well done...? You can see the body of the victim lying on a bed in the space between the devil and the man. Firstly I intended to make this scene at night, but now I see it beter in daytime, so the light could also be a link to divinity, \\\'cause God sees all.
Aniway, I\\\'m not satisfied with this one and I\\\'ll probably make like 30 sketches untill I\\\'m finaly pleased.

Hehe, thank's. I'll need it a lot with all those masters around. You guys don't know me and never heard of me, and probably most of you won't even notice me, some my laugh at me, but it dosen't matter, I'm used to it. I thinl I'll be the 1000th runner up, but hey, it's still a worthy experience. I'm gonna wish you all good luck and have lots of fun.

Another rough quick sketch. You can notice some anatomical distortions, but that's just me when I'm drawing fast. In this image, the human servant is waiting for the approval of his godly master (the big monster face in the clouds)to sacrifice the victim. The eyes of the master and the servant are connected through a beam of light passing through the clouds. After I finished it, I realized that I should have placed the hand with the knife in the center of the page, as murder represents the ultimate sin and it should be focused on.

Yet another sketch. I don't know how much you can understand from this, but it's about a big evil master who died and he's carried to his resting place by the swarms of his loyal servants. The servants are in pain and suffer greatly from their master's death, allthough their master was wicked and extremely mean with them, torturing, eviscerating them. I'll show some marks of torture on them foreground servants to show the mean behaviour of their master. But still I'm not satisfied with this concept either.

Great idea! I think this would be a great way to show the relationship between master and servant! I think it would work with both a good or an evil master, so which way you go is up too you! I'll check back to see how things progress. :)

thanks. I think that with this last ideea I'll try another view point, somehow above , so the whole mass of servants could be seen in the horizon and also I'll make it more dynamic.
Oh, and I made that guy red just to show well in this sketch, I'm not going to make it red if I choose to stay with this concept.

The same story as the previous entry, only a different parspective. All anatomycal issues are thrown away when I\'m sketching fast, as you can see. This was done so I can visualize how it would look seen like this. The swarm of servants lasts way over to the horizon.

The new perspective is a good choice. :)

As for the crowd, I think you should incorporate stuff like banners, talisman, ceramonial artifacts that release smoke from insents. Just thinking out loud here... Can't wait to see what else you cook up for this :)

Cool ideea. I was also thinking that if I'll stay with this concept (though I doubt :hmm: ), I should add some other creatures besides humans for servants, like big animals, some mutant humans of some sort, etc., to make it more diversified and dynamic.

I wanted to quit this challenge these days, but then I realized that I have nothing to lose. So here am I with my final concept, the one that I'm going to do 'till the end.
So, basicaly I did this doodle without having anything in my mind (I often do so), I just started drawing stuff and this thing showed up. I didn't gaved it any attention, until today, when I realised it's potential and meaning:
the story of this image is that the big monster is a divine creature, a god. He used to be a mighty one, untill he agreed to host a civilisation on his body, with the condition that they serve him well, with prayers and sacrifices. After this, another civilisation wanted to believe in him and to have a place on his divine body, then another one, and another one, untill he had enough. All went just fine, but suddenly the servant civilisations began to lose interest in their god, and gradualy they forgot about him and all that the god becamed was just a myth, rather than a living entity. And so, the god deteriorated, his life began to fade. He gradualy went down, and turning into mountains and stone and becoming colder and paralysed. At this moment, he's starting to fall apart, his jaw allready felt. I'm going to add more cracks on him, and through some cracks his vital fluid bursts rapidly. I'm going to paint it with cold colors and his shadow will be his ruined silouete, not the actual one.
You can notice some civilisations inside him, there's one in his mouth, one on the nose, one on his back spike and one in his belly. I'm going to add more of them.
Ok, enough talking I must now improve this sketch and make it a lineart.

salutare bai romanule !
:D bafta multa ! sper sa iei Boxx-ul :D chiar m-as bucura !

I detailed this sketch as much as I need.

Also, I changed the story a bit: those civilisations were created by the god, for the god was a lonely one. They weren't just some civilisations who wanted a "home" on a god.

It's been a while. I layed down the main color on the god and applied a gradient background to suite my color choice. In the end it's going to be darker and colder. I have a long way to go and a short time to do it. And now is the semester tests period :(

A little progress. It still looks like crap and my technical skills suck, but are develloping. Oh, and I forgot to mention that the original immage has 600dpi and takes 5 minutes to save :( .

A slight update: more work on the chest and arm, made a general color for the mountains and started shading the mountains a bit, made a rough petrification transition of the torso and added a shadow sketch. I'm so depressed...

These are samples of clouds from the world from the interior of his belly and some mountains, from the arm transition and from the torso transition. At this point I realy need some advice on how to improve them.
