CREATIVE DIRECTOR
Job Requirements:
7+ years of experience in the games industry
5+ years in management.
A history of shipping commercially successful products
Essential Functions:
As the visionary and keeper of the overall creative vision of the game, the Creative Director, under the guidance of the Executive Producer, facilitates the synthesis of programming, art and design, and is accountable for the actualization of the artistic and technical goals of the project.
Creative Directors must have a deep understanding of the game industry and target audience, and a solid understanding of all the key components that go into today's top selling games, with a demonstrated expertise in at least one (game productions, 3d art, animation, technology, game design, music and sound effects), and their creation and the management thereof.
On a day-to-day basis, the Project Director oversees and ensures the work produced is in-line with the project vision, while collaborating with programmers, artists, designers, writers and sound designers to incorporate many creative and technical solutions into a single product.
Other Responsibilities Include:
Assembles, in collaboration with Producer, the appropriate team to realize overall goals and deliver a successful project on time.
Collaborates with Producer and Leads to adjust project goals and design revisions on the fly as necessary to adapt to changing situations and meet established schedules.
Identifies potential problems in advance and works with Producer to prevent them.
In partnership with Producer, helps settle project-related conflicts and disputes, and counsel marginal performers, according to HR policies.
Supports the Producer to keep studio executive staff, the publisher and/or marketing staff up to speed on product status and vision through the preparation and presentation of appropriate project materials (e.g., milestone updates, demos, etc).
Acts as the primary PR spokesman of the project's creative vision. Mentors and serves as a technical and creative resource for the team, assisting in the resolution of complex problems, and helping them grow in their roles.
Skills and abilities:
Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems efficiently.
Strong leadership skills in terms of identifying and communicating goals and risks to the team.
Self-starter, analytical, creative, highly motivated and has a visionary spirit. 4. A team player with strong influencing skills as well as the ability to compromise when necessary.
Proven track record of success as it relates to the full lifecycle of product development, launch and revenue success.
Ability to maintain pacing in situations of intense schedules.
Strong time management skills with a proven ability to focus on priorities juggle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Ability to work cooperatively on a team spanning artists, programmers and designers, and to compromise when necessary to achieve overall best results.
Ability to communicate effectively with executive level staff on a broad range of topics: technical, business and creative.
